System JO H2O lubricant by System JO - review by badk1tty

I find System JO H2O to be a very versatile personal lubricant that can be used comfortably in most situations. Be it adding a little extra wetness during manual masturbation, lubing up my toys for vaginal play, mild anal play (plugs and fingers, mainly), or your run-of-the-mill sex, JO has done me wonders. I sometimes wish that it was a bit thicker so that it could accommodate me better for more anal situations, but for those who are used to using a thinner lube or don't have problems with insertion, this may work wonderfully.

JO advertises itself to be 'Silky smooth "Silicone feel,"' and I am in complete agreement. I actually had to double-check the label that it was actually a water-based lube, because it really does feel just like silicone. I didn't experience any problems with it getting sticky or tacky after use, though it usually does need a few applications for longer sessions.

The biggest downside for me are in the ingredients, as it contains both parabens and glycerin, so for those with allergies or sensitivities, this may not be for you.

JO has a silky-smooth texture that I find feels nearly exactly the same as silicone lubes that I have tried, without the difficulty in cleaning or the damage to other silicone toys that traditional silicone lubes cause. This lube is fairly runny, so when i pour it into my hand, I have to make sure I keep my fingers smooshed together so that it doesn't drip through them. When poured directly onto a toy, it slides down the shaft fairly quickly, so it does have a lot thinner of a consistency than many other lubes that I am used to. While it does tend to slide around very well on toys, I find it does an amazing job lubricating for sex, as the drag of the skin keeps everything nice and slick, but it's not so thick that too much friction back and forth gets hot or causes the lube to become tacky or uncomfortable.

JO has a very faint chemical scent to it, the closest that I can compare it to would almost be like glue. It isn't unpleasant and it isn't very noticeable. I find the taste to be almost nonexistent in smaller amounts, though I'm not sure I'd recommend oral sex directly after a heavy application. Overall, I found the scent and the flavor to be very light and mild in comparison to other lubes on the market.

In my experiences with JO (and this is my go-to lube for most scenarios), a little bit goes a long way. That being said, as it is water-based, reapplication can be necessary for very long sessions. When I give my fiance a hand job, I tend to get a nice dollop of this in the palm of my hand and it will last a good fifteen minutes before my hands get to that point where there's a bit of discomfort and I have to add more.

Whether during solo play or standard intercourse, both my partner and I enjoyed the feel of JO, and neither of us found it necessary to clean up afterwards, aside from washing my hands. It absorbs into the skin without any after residue or discomfort and didn't leave any stains on my sheets.

As I mentioned above, the only downfall I have with JO is that it does contain allergens in the ingredients, mainly parabens and glycerin.

Ingredients: Propyl Paraben, Mathyl Paraben, Sodium Carboxy Methyl Cellulose Glycerin, Purified Water.

Simple? Yes. Discreet? Not so much. The packaging clearly states what it is, in large silver letters down the side, in all caps. So if you don't want someone to know what this product is, you may want to put it away. That being said, there isn't anything about the bottle that would make it something you would want to hide, either.

The bottle is clear, in a very heavy plastic (I couldn't puncture this thing unless I really tried), with a black lid and silver and blue writing on the label. The sturdy bottle makes this ideal for traveling, or just tossing around in a nightstand drawer. The label is plastic and very nicely adhered to the bottle, so there won't likely be any issues with sticky hands destroying the packaging, either.

That all being said, the sturdiness of the packaging means that you likely will need both hands to use this—at least, I found that I do.

I have very little complaints about Systems JO, overall, and this particular lubricant is no exception. While I wish that it were a bit thicker so that I could use it more often with anal, I'm sure that if it were thicker, I would wish that it were thinner for something else. This little bottle has certainly found a niche in my nightstand drawer that won't soon be replaced with anything else, certainly not any of the other normal lubricants in its price range.
