Good But Not Great
Not the best lubricant I have ever used, but it is worth keeping around in case of an emergency. It performs well, but does not last as long as is sometimes necessary.Published: May 9, 2009
Pros:
Very smooth and slippery.
Cons:
Dries out fairly quickly.
This lubricant is better than the K-Y brand of thick sticky jelly. Astroglide is thin and runny and if you put it on your fingers it will string between them which can cause control issues. It seems to end up everywhere. The texture is very slippery at first, dries too quickly for my liking, and always has me reaching for more during hand jobs. I was also quite surprised that the lubricant became white and foamy on rubber and jelly toys. However, my husband enjoyed this lubricant because it did not become sticky with use and he prefers to have to add more than deal with sticking.
The smell of this lubricant is not good because it has glycerin as one of its main ingredients, and it lingers on your hands. The scent reminds me of bubbles that children blow outside. Manageable but not a great scent, and I believe that the scented versions would be better. From the scent alone I believe that the flavor would not great either. It is very bitter and leaves a peculiar aftertaste that is also not pleasant.
The product is not horrible, and I believe that it performs well for the price because we pay for quality. I personally do not spend my time smelling or tasting lubricant, but I did for the review so I would know the product a little better and the lubricant is just an o.k. product.
It is water-based so it is compatible with condoms and easy to clean up afterward. Just use some soap and water and it is gone. I also noticed that it does not stain or leave strange spots on dark colored sheets either. Overall in a bind I will use this product, but I am still on the search for a better product.

Follow-up commentary

The slippery texture has begun to grow on me. It was not my favorite because it was so slimey, but it is my husband's favorite. A little bit goes a long way with this lubricant and it has been worth the money.

Favorite lube?

I absolutely think astroglide is the best all-around lube on the market. Let me know what you think.

Quote: I absolutely think astroglide is the best all-around lube on the market. Let me know what you think.I would definitely agree with you there! I always used to use different KY ones and the occasional one from different surprise-party type companies, but there was always something about them that I hated. Finally I was introduced to astroglide and haven't used anything else since :D

Astroglide is ok, but I find it doesn't work that well for anal sex. I use Maximus for that, as I am naturally a wet person, and don't really need lube for anything else.

98 Reviews? Are You Serious???
-
Can you believe there are 98 reviews on Astroglide? I was just browsing through lubes and thought I might find a good one to review, and I saw that it had 98!!! No kidding, check the page! What do you think of this, folks? Are you as surprised as me?
-
Most likely because reviewers starting out have to review cheaper items first. I'd guess that lubes and massage balms/oils would be many reviewers' first picks since they'd want to buy the stuff anyway. :P

A lot of people use Astroglide, so it doesn't surprise me. I reviewed it myself :)

Thank you for viewing Astroglide – lubricant review page!

try maximus. it's water based, no glycerin, not runny, and has great lasting power.
Thanks for the review!!
thanks for the honest review. at least you feel it was worth the price you paid and not a total waste.
