Great scent & texture......not so great taste!

If this tasted as good as it smelled, I'd probably wind up eating the whole thing and giving it 5 stars. Instead, it makes me want to go out in the kitchen and make some milk chocolate instant pudding and eat it and then go have sex and use this on my husband's body instead but not kiss him or lick it.

So the question is - which should I do first - have the chocolate or the sex - uh - I mean massage?

Yes, I highly recommend this product as long as you aren't wanting to eat it.

Use

I love this body souffle because it smells great and feels so nice when I rub it into my skin. I love the smell of chocolate and I just couldn't resist buying this item.

It is designed to moisturize your body but it is not designed to be used on your face or genitals. I would be worried about my face breaking out and since this product has glycerin in it, I'd be worried about possibly getting a yeast infection.

The ingredients are:

Water, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Cetearyl Alcohol, Flavor, Polyacrylamide, C13/14 Isoparrafin, Laureth/7, PEG/100 Stearate, Carbomer, Sodium Saccharin, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Sorbate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Yellow 6 (CI 15985)

As I recommend with any bath and beauty product, please be sure to check all of the ingredients before purchasing in case you have any allergies. I did boldface the glycerin in the ingredient list because many folks try to avoid this in their products.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

I apologize in advance for the fact that I say this in every moisturizer review that I write, but it needs to be said.

There are three basic categories of moisturizers. The first category is the "lotion" category which is in a bottle and pours out onto your skin. Products in this category have the highest percentage of water in them and often need to be reapplied due to this. It doesn't mean that they aren't effective, simply that they don't go into the skin as deeply and need to be refreshed to keep your skin soft.

The middle category is the body souffles and the whipped products. These have a lower content of water in them than lotions and are usually in a jar where you have to dip your finger (or a beauty spatula) in to get the product out. These products have a lower percentage of water than lotions do and do not need to be reapplied as often as lotions. They also have a higher concentration of oils and butters to soften your skin.

The final category are the body butters. These have the lowest percentage of water in them and the highest amount of butters and oils. These are also usually in a jar and have to be scooped out with your finger or a spatula. These are thicker than the souffles and need to be rubbed a bit more to get them into your skin, however, they seem to last the longest due to the higher concentration of oils.

To explain the difference in texture between the last two categories, you'd have to picture yourself putting whipped cream on your hand (that would be like the souffle) or scooping out a bit of butter and putting it on your hand. That is the difference you'll find in consistency.

I love this product because it is a whipped product from the second category and yet it is thick and rich and yet spreads out very nicely.

I have some pictures to share with you.

The consistency as you open the jar:

I put some on my hand and turned my hand sideways to see if it would slide off:

This is an absolutely HORRIBLE photo but I wanted you to see it as I spread it out on my hand and to see that my hand didn't really turn a chocolate color but you could sort of see the creme a bit still:
    • Creamy
    • Smooth

Taste / Aroma

I love the smell of this when it is in the jar and as I put it on my skin. It smells rich and chocolatey and sweet but not too sweet. It reminds me of the smell of milk chocolate pudding as you're whipping up the instant variety.

But I do not like the taste at all and neither does my husband. It has a very chemical fake taste to it and an absolutely horrible aftertaste.

Performance

I want to talk about its performance two different ways. I hope I don't confuse you but I think I won't.

This product is great as a body souffle. It smells great and it does a really nice job moisturizing the skin. We don't do massages very much so I can't speak to that quality of it, but I did use it and then try to massage my arm with it and I felt like it worked fairly well and did as good of a job as I'd expect. So if I was rating this product simply on being a body souffle, then I would give it a 5 for the quality.

However, this is billed as an "edible" massage product. The back of the label states, "Designed for sensual massage, this incredibly rich, kissable moisturizing cream melts away completely with water. Treat yourselves and make love even sweeter."

Because it is billed that way, as something that you could kiss, it only deserves a rating of 3. I notice it isn't as bad when you kiss someone wearing it as it is if you simply take a tiny bit and put it on your tongue. But it isn't great either and not something that I'd find myself wanting to kiss a lot. In fact, the closer I get to it to kiss my lover, it almost becomes overpowering in scent and the flavor is just "ok". The flavor doesn't meet the expectations you get from the rich sweet scent.

Packaging

The product comes in a clear jar that holds 7.5 ounces. Eden Fantasys also carries a smaller jar that is 1.8 ounces. There are no real instructions on the jar other than what I shared above.

Between its beautiful label and black twist off cap, this actually looks pretty and almost elegant sitting in the bathroom or bedroom. It definitely doesn't scream "sex product" to anyone who walks by.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Would make a nice gift
