ID glide review

This lube is doctor recommended for a reason, it far surpasses any of the lubes one can purchase at most pharmacies or retail stores and should suit most play time fine.
Published: April 28, 2008
Pros:
Smooth, Long lasting, large bottle, clear, odorless, pleasant taste, less sticky than other brands
Cons:
Reapplication is necessary during longer play sessions, is not completely stick-free

ID Glide lube is an amazing product! There, I said it! But, honestly, it is. I cannot express just how well this product works and if you're like I was - using the same pharmacy brand lubes for years without knowing something better was out there - I dare you to make the switch! You'll never think twice. Ever.

While most low-end lubricants are overpriced, packaged in small bottles, of poor consistency, have a tendency to become sticky and generally don't do a good job at their intended purpose (thus causing you to reapply continuously and empty your pocket to purchase more), ID Glide lube will be a pleasant surprise right off the bat. In fact, you may find yourself using too much lube during your first few sessions with ID Glide because you don't need to use nearly as much as you probably had to with your old product.

ID Glide is advertises as scent free which is certainly true. It is not, however, taste free. This lube has a slightly sweet taste that actually is rather pleasant when giving oral sex.

While ID Glide is not completely flawless, the flaws are minimal. There may be some drying and stickiness and if your session is marathon style, expect to apply more lube or revitalize it with water. Still, compared to many popular brands (such as KY), ID Glide is heaven sent for anyone who has trouble beocming or staying wet enough to enjoy intercourse or for paving the way for larger toys.

Also, the water-based formula glides on smoothly and is safe for use with silicone based toys and latex condoms.

I first purchased my one and only bottle of ID Glide almost 2 years ago and I still haven't used it all up. Granted, I don't use it every time I have intercourse but the formula works so well that I don't need to be replacing the bottle every couple months like I had to with other products. If you're sick of replacing your tiny bottles of lube on a frequent basis, try ID Glide!
Follow-up commentary
I've had my original 9.5 oz bottle of ID glide for 2.5 years, and there's no sign of it going bad. The slightly blue lube is still translucent, and has no obvious sign of expiration, but there bottle has no expiration date. I've also added a smaller bottle of Id Glide to my collection, which works better for travel and fits better in my Devine Toy Box, too.

After trying other water-based lubricants I still go back to ID Glide, because it has never caused irritation and is a bit thicker. I have fewer problems with messes caused from thin lube running all over my hands, the bed, or the floor, when I use ID Glide because of its thickness. Although not a gel by any means it's definitely a step up from other lubes, and I'll take a little stickiness during prolonged periods of play for that alone.

Good review!  I like this one, too, especially for toy play, because of its thicker consistency.

After 2 years it doesn't start to dry out?

I haven't really noticed it but it's been unused for a while so I'll have to check up on it.

This is my favorite water-based lube! I'm not shocked that you still have some left. A little goes a long way with this lube! Great review. Thanks!

  • I received a sample and want to make sure it's the real thing before writing a review.
    • I got this sample with a wholesale order:

Is this the one EF is selling in larger bottles, so can I review it?
    • It looks the same to me. If you're going to review it, do note that you have a smaller sample size tho.

I would mention that. It got pretty good ratings but it's like the worst thing I ever tried maybe 2/5. So not sure if it's just my personal preference or just plain different. Ingredients looks like the same tho. I read your durex warming review! I like that lube and use it to the day. This is far worse than that in terms of smell and performance. I got a premium silicone lube recently and I can finally understand why people gave 2/5 to the durex warming :) But I like it anyway, it's different. But made me realize what tacky really means and now I got a better picture.

  • Why is this product not sold in the same types of containers?
    • I am wondering why the different weights are sold in different containers. The 17.5 oz. container looks the best, but costs more. The 4 oz bottle looks weird, and I don't like it. They should be sold in same-looking containers. Any comments? Agreements?

I'd noticed that, too, and I think it's a bit odd. I think it'd be much better if they made them all the same as you suggested. I guess they figure they're just giving people a choice in the way the lube is disposed?

The Gun Oil lube bottles look pretty much the same except for size or if it has a pump. Personally it doesn't bother me what the bottle looks like. Some I am sure are easier to conceal in a pocket or purse for the purpose of travel. Others do to their size like the one I baught being 35 oz. looks like a shampoo bottle and you could probably have out in the open as long as someone didn't take to close a look at it. I am sure they had their reasons for making the bottles the way they did.
