It's a gel and it's wet
Wet gel is affordable and readily available in most stores. It's water based and works decently with any type of toy as well as anal and vaginal intercourse. It tends, like most water and glycerin based lubes, to get a bit sticky and need reapplication.Published: January 22, 2009
Pros:
Widely available, economical, easy clean up, compatible with all toys
Cons:
Sticky, typical glycerin based smell and sweetness, not very natural feeling
I've come to the conclusion that water based lubes just don't work well for me.
Wet gel is a decent lube. The packaging is a little bright but I can leave it next to my bed without worrying too much. At a quick glance it just looks like a bottle of any miscellaneous bathroom product. The flip top bottle makes it fairly easy to use unless your hands are super gooped up with lube already - then it can be a little tricky to hold on to and flip the top.
Wet gel has no icky smell or taste other than the usual slightly chemical sweetness of lubes that contain glycerin. It's slippery and... well... wet but it doesn't have the nice slickness of some premium lubes.
It's compatible with any toy since it's water based.
But for me it just seems to get sticky very quickly and I'm constantly applying more. I don't mind that when I'm playing with toys but since my partner and I tend to use lube with intercourse these days (hormonal changes really suck) it gets to be a real pain (pun intended) when it dries up and you have to interrupt great sex to add more.
The consistency of Wet gel is less than ideal, as well. It's very much a gel and not very much like natural lube to me. I prefer my lubes to have a similar feel as that which I naturally produce. Wet is missing that nice, slick feeling and, instead, feels vaguely like gooey ultrasound gel to me. Not what I want to be thinking about during play.
It is easy to clean up with a few swipes of a washcloth or a wet wipe and it's widely available. It works in a pinch. But it's never going to be the first thing I grab for. On par with KY products, in my opinion.

Follow-up commentary
2 months after original review
I've tried, multiple times, to find something redeeming about this lube.
I've been unsuccessful.
I just don't like it.
My partner, however, doesn't mind it. He says it works quite well for him with his cyberskin masturbators - which can't be used with our usual silicone lube.
So perhaps when not comparing to natural lube, when not comparing to other lubes, Wet gel is an okay and economical lube.
Good, obviously, for hand jobs and male toys, if not my own masturbation and toy use.

I have been using ID pleasure for years. I tried WET and it seemed to be a bit more watered down to me. Not a bad thing just not my thing.
Anyonee lse have this going for you too? -
I used to hate Wet products, they came off as cheap.
Until I tried their synergy line. I fell in love with both the original, and the tingle lubricant.
The Synergy is water and silicone mixed, which produces a gel. I hate water down lubricants.
As long as you don't use it with silicone toys, its fine. -
I used to feel the same way about wet

Why not the same looking containers for this product?

Why is the 3.5, the 4.8, and the 10 oz bottles of this lubricant sold in cool looking bottles, while the 0.8 amount and the 1.5 sold in smaller, weirder shapes? Why not miniatures of the cooler versions? Why a toothpaste looking bottle and a hand sanitizer looking bottle? Comments? Agreements?

Personally I don't care either way for stuff like this, none of the bottles are something I would want to display and the ease of use on all of them seems about the same, so it's not going to make a difference to me between the options. -

Agreements? At the size of the bottles for those smaller ones, the "neat" bottle wouldn't work. The little "handle hold" on the side of the bottle would actually be the entire length of the bottle. There just isn't enough product to warrant making the bigger bottle. However, if you contact Wet Lubricants, they always take suggestions well and could explain it further.

Thank you for viewing Wet gel lubricant review page!

You know, there was a time that I was thinking about trying this stuff out, but your review makes me think otherwise. If it is only on par with KY products, then I want nothing to do with it. Don't give up on water based lubes until you give Maximus and/or Probe (thick and rich formula) shots. I have been very pleased with how long both of these last. They are thicker, though, so they don't mimic your natural lube as well. Maybe the regular probe would work well for you, but I haven't tried that one. Thanks for the review!
Thanks, Jimbo!
I"m actually really fond of Liquid Silk as a water based but my heart will always belong to silicone lubes.
I pretty much keep water based around for toys and sex with toys but for plain old sex? Silicone just does it for me.
Victoria recommended Maximus, too, though so perhaps I'll have to give it a shot in my quest to become a lube connoisseur!
Appreciate the review!
great review!
