Jack of ALL Trades

Jumpin' Jack(-Aide) Flash - It's a Gas, Gas, Gas! This is a versatile, long lasting, toy and condom safe lube that does far more than facilitate masturbation. It does an excellent job of that, but fills almost any role you could hope for in a lube.

Use

Jack-Aid Thick Gel is a hybrid silicone/water based sex lube proudly made in the USA and distributed by Zero Tolerance Enterprises.

front

The label calls it a "masturbation gel" and as such it is unrivaled in superior "jackability"! This is a tremendously thick gel that is very slick and, as the name implies, is great for jacking off. Anyone who likes a thick, smooth, long lasting lube will like Jack-Aide. Oh, but it's not JUST for hands, no no, it's a great lube for vaginal sex and anal play. It's not too gunky for vaginas and anal toys just love this. It is a super slick lube that can be used with any toy material, is non-staining, washes off easily (unlike straight silicone lubes), is condom safe and doesn't become sticky or tacky (unlike some water based lubes). Jack-Aide does have some ingredients that not everyone may like, so please check the "Special Features" section of this review.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Jack-Aide is a VERY thick lube. A small amount poured out onto your hand keeps its shape and only flows very slowly. The accompanying photograph shows Jack-Aide alongside several other brand/types of lube.

running

It is very smooth and very slick and a little "ropy" at first. You know, the texture of the egg in egg drop soup. Ew. This ropiness quickly dissipates as the gels warms and becomes slightly less viscous. The lube is a little difficult to get out of the bottle, it flows that slowly. This is a picture of the uncapped bottle after being inverted for 10 seconds.

open cap

Try that with a silicone lube! A small shake to get the gel to the cap end is all that is needed to "prime the pump" and a gentle squeeze dispenses the lube.

Taste / Aroma

JackAide Thick Gel Hybrid lube is essentially odorless. I thought I could get the faintest hint of some type of odor from it, but it may have been my imagination. My lovely wife thought she could smell an alcohol type smell, but she wasn't sure either. "Essentially odorless" is an excellent description.

Taste, however, is another story altogether. The lube has a sharp bite on the tongue and while it has no flavor as such, the initial bite is somewhat/very unpleasant. Plus it leaves your tongue all slippery.

Remember those bright green Mr. Yuck stickers that used to come from school? This lube was what they gave Mr. Yuck to get him to make that face. Well, probably not really, but you get the idea.

Mr. Yuck

If you are planning to use this lube in situations where oral sex may be involved, please take a small test taste first to see if you are as gruesomely repulsed as I was.

Performance

Jack-Aide thick gel really lives up to its name. Using this stuff to masturbate was great! It was very slick and felt really good as I was stroking my cock. It stayed just where it was needed and lasted and lasted without becoming sticky or drying up. I dug out an old stroker (see Girl Next Door) that I reviewed some time ago and tried it with the Jack-Aide. Holy $*@T!! It really gave new life to a pocket pussy toy.

For anal toys it is terrific. The gel is not easily "squeegeed" off a toy by sphincter muscles, so the plugs and dildos stayed slick and moved really well. This stuff really eliminated any unpleasant drag of anal toys. Reapplication was completely unnecessary after an initial generous amount. Maybe a dime sized dollop for jackin' and quarter sized for anal toys.

As a lube for vaginal intercourse; it's a winner again. It stayed nice and slick, without getting gummy and without the need to reapply. The only noticeable thing was the slickness - no mess, no goo, no sting. My wife and I both really liked it.

I'm not sure how long this stuff would stay slick! It has outlasted me, me and my wife, me and my friend Mona and everything else I can throw at it. I haven't had to reapply this once during use. I suppose for industrial grade, desensitizing spray, drunken, fourth time around tonight, wild gang bang action you may need to reapply, but I haven't run into that. I would love to hear about it, though, if you have any tales to share.

Cleanup was a breeze; the lube easily washed off with water, leaving no residue or greasy feeling. It came right off skin and toys alike with no problem at all.

Packaging

The Jack-Aide bottle that I received was the 4 oz. size. It comes in an upright cylindrical plastic (recyclable, No. 1 plastic!) bottle with a press type dispenser top, similar to shampoo bottles.

cap

Under the cap was an adhesive safety seal, which I really like, that shows that the contents have not been tampered with. There is a picture of a big fist in shaft grip pose on the label. There is some information for use and suggestions such as; "Formulated for intense masturbation", "Use alone or with a partner" and "Great for sex". You get the idea. It goes on to describe its condom and toy friendliness and that it is vaginal safe. Nice to know. I tried this with a Vixen silicone plug and it worked just fine, but you may want to test a toy first for reactivity or avoid silicone altogether. The cautions do include to stop use if irritation or discomfort occurs and to consult a physician if this happens. I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation! No joke, though, if you know your body doesn't like certain substances always check the ingredients carefully. It warns that Jack-Aide is very slippery; to clean up spills and to "Keep out of reach of minors"(?). The ingredients are also listed.

The bottle is very handily sized and is convenient. This is in no way discreet with the big jackin' fist and "masturbation lubrication" printed right on the front of the label! I suppose it could travel well, although the 4 oz. size is probably too large for TSA standards for carry-on bags, so best to pack it. The cap closes very snugly and chances for leakage are very small. If you are the type who really worries about such things I guess a Ziploc bag would ease your worried mind.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense

Special Features

While not really a "special feature" I have included an ingredients list in order to help you make an informed decision about whether this would be a good product for you to use on your sensitive boy/girl parts. The ingredient list comes from the bottle and the brief explanation of each comes from my exhaustive (read: wikipedia) internet research. Enjoy!

Purified water - everyone knows this one, right? Pay attention, they get tougher now!
Propylene glycol - non-toxic emulsifier, moisturizer. For the chem majors, this exists as two different Steroisomers due to an asymmetrical carbon atom. But, you already knew that.
Dimethicone - silicone oil; lubricates and protects skin. Used also in hair and food(!) products.
Cyclopentasiloxane - Holy Alphabet Soup, Batman! Conditioner, lubricant, solvent.
Peg/ppg-18/18 Dimeticone - surfactant, emulsifier, lubricating agent.
Trideceth-6 - an emulsifier. These names are getting really weird, huh?
Sodium polyacrylate - thickening agent. Also used as the absorbent in diapers and to make fake snow. It can absorb 200 to 300 times its mass in water. Wow.
Sodium carboxymethylcellulose - has the property of conveying high viscosity in low concentration.
Phenoxyethanol - a preservative. The newest, best substitue for parabens for preservative effects.

If you're not confused/asleep/bored yet, consider this: the Zero Tolerance website states the following about Jack-Aide Thick Gel Hybrid "It is made with a pharmaceutical grade vegetable based glycerin, not animal-based, which may cause infection." See here: Jack-Aide Thick Density Hybrid. However you astute readers will notice that there is no glycerin listed in the previous ingredients section. It is not listed on the bottle either. I double-checked. Is it in there or not? Not really sure myself. If glycerin makes your throat close and prevents your regular breathing you may want to try something else just in case.
Follow-up commentary
I still love this stuff. It's just as slick and thick as ever. During the last use of this with my wife, she remarked that there was some burning and stinging associated with its use. It was stinging enough that she excused herself to wash it off.

I sent an email to the company asking about the discrepency of listed ingredients between the web site and the product label. Specifically about whether or not the product contained glycerine (See main review). I never heard back from the company. Caveat emptor. I still like it.
