Leave This At The Doctors

This product should be left at the doctor's office. K-Y has taken surgical lube and re-branded it to make millions off unsuspecting people. This stuff isn't PH balanced and when you use enough to stay moist, you feel like you are "squishing" as you walk. Nothing better than leaving a puddle as you walk to the bathroom. That is the real walk of shame.

Use

K-Y Jelly is intended to be used as a lubricant for vaginal sex or masturbation. It is a water-based lubricant so I would not recommend it for use in anal play because the anal opening is not self lubricating and will feel more comfortable with a silicone based lubricant. This product has no added dyes, or scents and would be good for someone who is prone to UTIs, Yeast infections, or Bacterial Vaginosis. It is safe to use with male and female condoms, and doesn't pose any threat of interference of any type. Because this is a water-based lubricant it will absorb into the tissue and needs to be reapplied as needed during intercourse. It is good for male masturbation as well and despite drying quickly would probably work in a pinch.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

When I first opened the tube I tried to squeeze out a small amount, but was unable to do so because a huge dollop came out instead. It was cold when it hit my hand and when it started to warm up I expected it to be more slippery, but it has a gel consistency instead. Once I started applying it, the texture became like water but with thickeners added. The texture could best be described as jelly like. As it dried it became sticky and itchy and it dried quite quickly to be used for long periods of time. It absorbed into the skin fairly well and would work for either vaginal intercourse or masturbation.

Taste / Aroma

K-Y Jelly doesn't have a distinct smell. I have opened this tube several times and I can't smell anything at all after each opening. The product is not designed to be eaten so I wouldn't suggest tasting it. It reminds me of a cup of water because I can smell something, but nothing that I can identify. The smell isn't strong and because there are no added dyes or scents it is a safer alternative for people who are prone to infection. It is hypoallergenic which makes it a good option for people who may be sensitive to other lubricants on the market.

Performance

When used as directed this product works well for its intended purpose. It will aid in lubricating the vaginal opening prior to intercourse. It is important to apply it well to the object that will be inserted because it is water-based and will absorb into dry tissue, therefore, if not properly lubricated some tearing or pain may happen. The product will last well for 3-5 minutes, but will need to be reapplied if intercourse is going to last longer than that time frame. It is water-based and washes off extremely easily because of that.
    • Dries up too fast
    • Reapply often

Packaging

The packaging is nice, because it has a flip cap instead of a screw on top. It is discreet and very informative. The tube includes a list of ingredients for people who are allergic to anything, and it also has detailed instructions. It is hypoallergenic so it should be safe for almost everyone. It is easy to apply in the middle of the moment, but beware that often times too much comes out.

It's ingredients are: Water (Purified) , Glycerin , Hydroxyethylcellulose , Chlorhexidine Gluconate , Gluconolactone , Methylparaben and Sodium Hydroxide.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Messy dispenser

Personal comments

I use this lube when I don't have anything else on hand or when I am blindly groping in the bed side drawers in the dark. It's nice to have around for times when you are having a quickie or want to feel a little cheap, but definitely consider investing in something a little nicer for nights when you want to feel truly amazing. Do yourself a favor and upgrade to something that is designed to lubricate you for more than a speculum or finger. Leave this at the doctor's and get yourself a real lube. Guys might enjoy this for solo play, but even then make the investment and go with something longer lasting and silkier.

Thanks for the review. I've noticed a lot of the "gel" lubes get really sticky. You should try Maximus!
