Like a mint julep for your Johnson

The Cool Quickie lube is a variant on the Elbow Grease lube from a few years back. This body safe, vegan lube delivers a cooling sensation to whatever area you apply it to. While it comes in a small container, it's more than enough to have a good time for a while.

Use

Cool Quickie is a new lube in the amusingly named Elbow Grease line from the B. Cumming company. Rather than being a general use lubricant, Cool Quickie is a cooling lube. The idea is once you apply it to whatever body part you want the sensation on, the ingredients begin to evaporate and create a refreshing, cooling effect that tingles and feels pretty neat. Since Elbow Grease is generally considered a jack off lube, it's safe to say the Cool Quickie is as well. As a jack off lube, it does just fine. As a general purpose lube, it's hard to say. If the cooling effect is what you are looking for, then go for it. Otherwise, this item only contains one ounce of lube and really doesn't go very far.

The three main ingredients are water, mineral oil, and paraffin. It's a body safe material and is even vegan so absolutely everyone can use this. I don't know of any allergic reactions to the ingredients of this lube but if you have specific health concerns you should do some research before using any new materials.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The texture of the Cool Quickie cream is a bit like cool whip, almost a mousse-like thickness. It thins out as it warms up to body temperature and it does a good job of staying in place while in use. Because it is so thick, it holds the cold very well and can be shocking to the system. Be sure you warm it up between your hands before you apply it to yourself or your partner. Once it is warm and has thinned out, you'll be able to use it to great effect.

Taste / Aroma

Cool Quickie has a fairly strong chemical odor. I had trouble identifying it but it smelled very familiar to me. If anything, I would say it smells a bit like Vaseline. The smell is noticeable at first but as the cream warms up and the cooling effect starts, the smell fades but never quite goes away. I did not taste this cream and I don't recommend you do either. While the ingredients are body safe and the cream is vegan, none of the ingredients lead me to believe it tastes good at all.

Performance

The Cool Quickie lasts decently long for a water based lube due in part to the fact it is so thick at the beginning. Because it is water based it feels great and absorbs into the skin very well. It's compatible with any material you care to use it with from jelly to latex to silicone. There are no compatibility issues with this lube. It washes off easily with just water but soap helps too. You'll find that there is a noticeable tingly, cooling effect but it's not overpowering.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely

Packaging

The Cool Quickie is about as minimal as it gets. What you get is the small one ounce plastic jar with a hinged lid sealed up with a safety strip. The strip allows you to see whether the product has been opened or is otherwise compromised or damaged. Besides that, you get nothing. The jar is all the packaging this item needs and it does not come in a box or blister pack like other small items. If you order this, try to order it simultaneously with something else so your Cool Quickie can share the protective packing in the box with your other item.

The jar itself is well made. The lid seals nicely and is very secure. I have seen similar jars made from metal and the lids on those have never worked well for me. This item is reliable and will stay in its packaging for the short time you own it.
    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Minimal

Special Features

The main draw for the Cool Quickie is of course, the cooling effect. The ingredients list menthol, the ingredient that gives you that tingly, minty sensation from breath mints and mouthwash. While the effects of menthol during oral sex are well documented, I don't think all the sensation of the Cool Quickie can be attributed to this one ingredient that is almost last on the list. Instead, I feel that the cetyl alcohol has a major part in giving that cooling sensation. Cetyl alcohol, like any alcohol product will evaporate very quickly once exposed to open air. When a liquid evaporates very quickly it creates an effect called "evaporative cooling" in which heat is drawn away from the surrounding environment to fuel the evaporation process. This results in whatever skin is exposed to the alcohol feels very cold. If you have used alcohol based hand sanitizer you have experienced this effect. Evaporative cooling is the principal process used by swamp coolers and can be a very efficient way to cool a large area. It is for these reasons I believe the cetyl alcohol has more to do with the cooling than the menthol, though they both feel pretty neat.

Damn, how did I miss this review? It deserved a nom. I'd be a little worried that it could freeze my dick off BTW, I wouldn't taste it either - if this is like the other Elbow Grease lubes, it contains UREA - Yeeech!
