Liquid Euphoria!

As long as you're not allergic to parabens, odds are you will LOVE Liquid Silk. It stays put incredibly well, and feels like it belongs... sometimes even better than the real thing! Instead of feeling like glue or vegetable oil, it is superbly slick but allows you to feel every little sensation. Using Liquid Silk will never be a chore, and one bottle should last quite a while. So, put down that drug store lube and splurge a little. Trust me, it's totally worth it.

Use

As far as I'm concerned, Liquid Silk is THE go-to lube. I haven't experimented with a million different lubes in my time, but I've definitely used enough to know that this is something special. All of the positive reviews I've read about this water based lubricant just fueled the fire until I had no choice but to buy it (using my Labor day coupon! :D ).

Liquid Silk is thicker than most lubes and stays put very well. It is great for vaginal sex, hand jobs, going solo, and anal. Although I haven't tried it yet, most people do recommend Liquid Silk's thicker brother, Maximus, for anal- but Liquid Silk also does the trick just fine for most people. One area that Liquid Silk does not shine brightly in is when used in water. If you're looking for a long romp in the shower, skip on using this lube- otherwise you'll be reapplying often and diminishing your supply!

While it is a water-based lube, Liquid Silk does contain a small amount of silicone (dimethicone,) so it is highly recommended that you spot test your silicone toys if you intend to use them with this lube. If it is going to react, it should do so relatively quickly and become gummy. It also contains parabens, which may react badly with some people's bodies. On the bright side, it is glycerin free, so no stickiness here- just sheer, silky pleasure!

Here is the list of ingredients:
Highly Purified Water, Propylene Glycol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Dimethicone, Cellulose Polymer, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate NSE, B.N.P.D, Di Sodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methyl Paraben, Butyl Paraben, Ethyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, BHT.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Liquid Silk has the texture of natural vaginal lubrication, which is what makes it so wonderful. When initially pumped from the bottle, it's very thick, and stays where it is extremely well. You can squirt it on your finger and hold it upside down- and it won't budge! Once Liquid Silk is massaged into it's intended area for use, it thins out, leaving a silky smooth barrier over the skin. It actually resembles cum when it is initially pumped out of the bottle, but once it thins out it turns mostly clear, although slightly milky. Unlike most water based lubes, it's not greasy or sticky at all. It lasts for a long time without the need for re-application, which certainly adds to it's appeal. After use, it absorbs nicely into the skin- no tacky residue that needs to be washed off.

Taste / Aroma

The one complaint most people, including myself, have about Liquid Silk is it's bitter taste. Well, there's no such thing as perfection! Honestly, I'm glad this is the downside rather than it's performance. While it can be a bit off-putting if you happen to lick somewhere that Liquid Silk was applied, the taste will not last long.

My boyfriend and I both had to unscrew the cap and stick the lube-covered pump directly up to our noses to even place what it smells like. According to my man, it smells "very lightly of the non-toxic Crayola paint you use in school." While I never would have thought of that myself, I found myself agreeing with that statement. But, you really have to work to smell it, so it does not detract from it's appeal whatsoever. It most certainly isn't like some other lubes that instantly fill the room with a sweet, artificial smell.
    • Almost undetectable smell
    • Bitter taste

Performance

Ah, performance. This is where Liquid Silk REALLY shines. I have never felt a lube quite like this, and neither has my man. After you've marveled at how well it stays put, you'll really be amazed at how good it feels in action. For our first use, I gave my boyfriend a hand job. Now, hand jobs are nothing special to us, but when I stroked my man's dick with my Liquid Silk-slathered hand, he moaned in pleasure immediately. I knew from that moment our relationship with this lube was going to be a good one.

My favorite use for Liquid Silk is, without a doubt, for vaginal intercourse. Bodywise (the manufacturers of Liquid Silk and Maximus) managed to brilliantly re-create the feeling of a deliciously wet pussy in a bottle. I actually found myself singing it's praises during sex the first time we used it... it's that good. While most other water based lubricants have a tendency to be too slick, Liquid Silk retains a certain level of friction so you can feel sensations you normally wouldn't with lubrication. It doesn't feel like a barrier, it's almost as if it belongs there; as if it's your own natural wetness.

Reapplication wasn't necessary for normal use, but if you're going to have a marathon session, odds are you'll be reaching for the pump at least one more time. One squirt does the trick for vaginal or manual application, but you might want to use two pumps for anal use.

Since Liquid Silk isn't tacky or greasy, there is little need to wash it off after use. I simply let it absorb into my skin, and it actually made my skin feel softer and more luxurious afterward- imagine that! You can easily wipe it off if there is any leftover residue, but unless you've used copious amounts, you won't find yourself running to the bathroom to wash it off. I love that about this lube, because I'm the type of person who likes to lay in bed grinning in the afterglow.

I haven't yet had the pleasure of using this lube with any of my toys, but I really look forward to it. Based on the way it feels during vaginal intercourse, it will be perfect for doing so, because it intensifies sensations by retaining just the right amount of friction. Just make sure you spot test any silicone toys because there IS a small amount of silicone in this lube!
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Feels natural
    • Long lasting

Packaging

I'm ecstatic to say that Liquid Silk comes in a plastic pump bottle, which allows for much more precise application. No reaching for a bottle, flipping open the cap, and haphazardly squirting lube onto your dick, or hand, or pussy, getting it all over you in the process. The pump top can be closed, similar to a soap dispenser or body lotion- but you will end up squirting a good deal out in the process. I would recommend putting the bottle in a ziploc bag for travel purposes, because it doesn't specifically state that it will, in fact, lock once the pump top is closed.

The bottle holds 250 mL, or 8.45 fl. oz., which is a decent amount for the price and should last for several months, depending on how addicted you become to it! It's certainly not discreet though, as it prominently proclaims it is a "Luxury Non-Tacky Water Based Sensual Lubricant" right on the front of the bottle. So unless you have no one to worry about, skip on keeping this on the nightstand.

For those of you concerned about the eco-friendliness of the packaging, it is recyclable and displays a number 1 on the bottom of the bottle.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Recyclable
    • Travel friendly

Personal comments

I have to say, this is the first lube I've actually fantasized about using. I've found other lubes I've liked, but nothing that feels this good, this natural. Usually I consider lube to be a necessary evil for those times when I'm just not wet enough, but I look forward to using Liquid Silk. I would tell everyone I know how good it is, if doing so wouldn't make me seem creepy. Have I mentioned I love this lube?

I'd like to try Liquid Silk for foot jobs, because it seems to have the right consistency, but I haven't had the pleasure of trying that out yet. Although it probably doesn't concern most of you, I will let you know how it performs once I get to try it out.
    • Not a chore to use
Follow-up commentary
Since I got Liquid Silk just under 3 months ago, it has been my go-to lube, (except for with silicone products I have tested that have a reaction) and I have gone through 3/4 of the 8.45 oz bottle. I still love it just as much as the first time I tried it, and my man and I find ourselves looking for reasons to use it. It does have to be reapplied a bit more often than I originally thought- generally at least once or twice more for extended play- but it feels so good it's definitely worth it! I will definitely buy Liquid Silk again... most likely very soon ;)

  • no good?
    • i get the impression that this is crap......
    • Liquid Silk's not a bad lube, but "crap" or "awesome" depends a lot on what you want out of your lube. Like, do you want one for anal play or vaginal? For shower play? Are you a stickler for healthy ingredients?
    • It wasn't bad, but Alan and Michele have a point. What are you trying to get out of the lube?

  • Liquid Silk and Silicone Toys
    • So, while looking through highly rated water based lubes, I came across Liquid Silk. Aside from the bitter taste, no one seems to have any complaints.

However, I noticed that the fourth ingredient is Dimethicone - and I was wondering what everyone's experience with this and silicone sex toys was? Is the silicone in Liquid Silk a small enough portion that it has no effect on toys, or is it generally not recommended for that type of play?

Or does the bonding potential of silicone lubes have more to do with the type/quality of silicone than anything else?
    • That's a really good question because Dimethicone is a silicone.

Basically it should be ok to use as long as the toy is made of medical grade silicone. There should, in theory, be no reaction. I, personally, wouldn't want to test that out on my own toys though. You can do a patch test on a small part of the toy. The reaction should be immediate if there is going to be one.

      Anyone else know about this?
    • I have had liquid silk react to a silicone toy. Which sucks because I love it. :(
