Liquid Silk... Cum in a bottle? I dunno, but it works AWESOME!

If you are looking for a AWESOME water based lube look no further. I compare this product with my favorite silicone lube: Eros original bodyglide. It is sexy, fun and long lasting.
Published: July 13, 2011
Pros:
The LOOKS! The feeling of silk. The longevity of this lube.
Cons:
I think I tend to use more then needed just because I think it looks hot, so I run out faster.

Use

Liquid Silk is labelled as a non-tacky water based lube. They were right that it does not get sticky, however under further review this is actually a hybrid lube, meaning that it contains both water and silicone. I have checked out the ingredients and it contains dimethicone (a type of silicone). It is safe for most toys, even most silicone, however you might want to do a spot check before using. I use it on my silicone G-Ki and have had no issues. It works great for every use I have tried, including sex, masturbation, with my toys and even a hand job for the hubby. This lube is #1 all the way around. Just a little dab will do the job and well. If that isn't enough for you, then think about this; it is also bio-static and that means that it will prevent the spreading of bacteria, fungi spores and yeast infections. It is also a L-Arginine and glycerin free product, but for those of you that have sensitivities this lube does contain parabens.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The texture is just right, not too thick and not too thin. It is a little thinner then some shampoos. The Liquid Silk is in a pump action container so it is easy to dispense and won't spill. It feels like silk; very smooth and soft with no sticky or greasy feeling to it. I love the texture and feel of this product.

Taste / Aroma

There isn't really a smell to this lube but if I had to choose one, I would say it smells clean. As far as taste I don't know, but hubby says it's a little bitter. If he is going downtown shopping after I have already played with a toy, we just wipe me off before he gets started and it hasn't been a issue as far as losing the mood.

Performance

Liquid Silk last for hours. I have rarely needed to reapply this. Clean up is a breeze, we just wipe up with a towel or hop in the shower (not that you need to shower to get this off.) I have found that it leaves my skin feeling very soft and smooth. I have used this lube for masturbation, with my toys, and during sex. My hubby also likes me to use it when I give him a hand job. I have found you need to add a little more when you are giving a hand job, but for everything else it is smooth sailing. I think that my favorite thing about this product is not just how well it works, how long it lasts and how safe it is for me and my toys, but that it looks like cum and something about seeing that all over a toy gets me pretty hot.

Packaging

This came to me in a nice sized box with other goodies in it. It was in a plastic bag with tape on it so that in case it broke open it wouldn't get all over everything. The lube is held in what looks like a see through lotion dispenser with a pump action top and is filled to the top with 8.25 fl. oz. of this wonderful lube. It is fairly discreet but I wouldn't recommend leaving this out for company to see. If my friends or parents came over they would know what it is, but if it was grandma I think she would think it was lotion and end up using it. There are no instructions on the bottle, just a list of ingredients and a "Best Before" date. This baby has a long self life, I bought mine last year in late 2010 and the best before date is 2015! Did I mention that it is wonderful for travel? After you take out a squirt of it you can continue to hold the pump down and twist. This locks the pump so there are no accidents. This makes it not just great for travel but also easy to store in your toy box.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Does not leak
    • Travel friendly

Special Features

A special feature to me was the look of this lube. It looks like cum, but isn't all warm and goopy like the real thing.
    • Sexy

Personal comments

The normal amount I use depends on what I am doing. If I am using a toy I tend to use about a pump and a half, but for sex a little less the half a pump. Each pump is just about the size of a quarter. A little goes a long way!

I want to try this, but the fact that it's not totally water-based scares me regarding my silicone toys...

Nice review! Thanks for pointing out that this is a hybrid lube, glad it hasn't interacted with any of your silicone toys though.

  • no good?
    • i get the impression that this is crap......
    • Liquid Silk's not a bad lube, but "crap" or "awesome" depends a lot on what you want out of your lube. Like, do you want one for anal play or vaginal? For shower play? Are you a stickler for healthy ingredients?
    • It wasn't bad, but Alan and Michele have a point. What are you trying to get out of the lube?

  • Liquid Silk and Silicone Toys
    • So, while looking through highly rated water based lubes, I came across Liquid Silk. Aside from the bitter taste, no one seems to have any complaints.

However, I noticed that the fourth ingredient is Dimethicone - and I was wondering what everyone's experience with this and silicone sex toys was? Is the silicone in Liquid Silk a small enough portion that it has no effect on toys, or is it generally not recommended for that type of play?

Or does the bonding potential of silicone lubes have more to do with the type/quality of silicone than anything else?
    • That's a really good question because Dimethicone is a silicone.

Basically it should be ok to use as long as the toy is made of medical grade silicone. There should, in theory, be no reaction. I, personally, wouldn't want to test that out on my own toys though. You can do a patch test on a small part of the toy. The reaction should be immediate if there is going to be one.

      Anyone else know about this?
    • I have had liquid silk react to a silicone toy. Which sucks because I love it. :(
