Flavored lubes are designed with oral sex in mind—obviously—so I tend to regard any flavored lube that tastes good and has no adverse side effects as a success. I’m happy to say that Wet’s Body Glide passed both of these tests with flying colors. I generally don’t mind a guy’s “natural flavor,” but if you do, or if you just want some variety, I’d certainly recommend this product.

Of course, it’s nice when a novelty lube can pull double duty, and I would say that Wet Body Glide can, with a few qualifications. I tried using this lube with both my Hitachi and a pocket rocket, I was generally pleased with the results; it stayed wet for the 30 or so minutes I needed it to, it protected me from chafing, and it didn’t irritate my skin. It’s fairly thin, though, so I would advise against using it for anal sex or—assuming you don’t produce much lubrication naturally—for vaginal sex.

As for potential side effects, well, I have pretty sensitive skin and I haven’t had any sort of adverse reaction to this lube. It does, however, contain ingredients (parabens, artificial flavoring, etc) that some users may prefer to avoid. Keep in mind that glycerin is not the best product for female anatomy; I haven’t had a problem with it, but I’d wash it off quickly when you’re done just to be on the safe side.

We all have our own opinions on texture, of course, but speaking only for myself, I wish this lube were a bit thicker. It works fine for oral sex, but you have to use a lot of it to really get any added glide during penetrative sex. The thin consistency also means that this lube is a bit runny; if you pour a bit onto your fingers it won’t exactly drip off, but it will definitely dribble downwards. This was mildly frustrating to me when I used it while masturbating; when lying on my back, I found that most of the lube ended up on the towel underneath me rather than on and around my clit. Still, as I said above, it provided enough slickness to be used comfortably with a vibrator.

Wet Body Glide isn’t particularly sticky when you first apply it, but—as other reviewers have mentioned—it does get a bit tacky as it dries. I wasn’t really bothered by this—I actually thought the lube stayed wet for a decent amount of time—but it is the kind of thing that you’ll want to wash off sooner rather than later when you’re done.

To be perfectly honest, when I first popped the lid and took a whiff of this lube, I thought I was going to hate the way it tasted. It’s not that the scent was unpleasant—just very, very strong. As a result, I was expecting the flavor to be overwhelmingly sweet and syrupy.

I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the lube tastes sweet, but not overpoweringly so. It really does taste like strawberry—well, strawberry candy, because let’s face it, artificial strawberry flavoring doesn’t really resemble the actual fruit all that much. It’s a bit like sucking on a Jolly Rancher—in other words, pretty tasty, assuming you have any kind of sweet tooth.

How long this lube will stay wet really depends on the workings of your own body. Unfortunately, women who need lubrication the most will probably be the most dissatisfied with it, because it does seem to dry quickly on skin that isn’t already fairly moist. On the other hand, if you’re naturally pretty wet, or if the lube gets mixed with saliva, it seems to last a decent amount of time—it’s no better or worse than most other water-based lubes in this respect.

As I mentioned, this is something you should wash off quickly after sex, but the good news is, cleanup is a breeze. You can use soap to be thorough, but I found that it came off easily with water alone. No one wants to spend a lot of time tidying up right after having an orgasm, so the lack of hassle was probably the best thing about this lube—other than the taste, of course.

I bought my lube at a drugstore, so I can’t speak to what kind of packaging it might have if you buy it online, but I like the container. It’s not terribly discreet—it does say “lubricant” right on the front—but the bottle is excellent. I haven’t had problems with it leaking, you can flip the cap open with one hand, and it’s easy to control the amount of lube that comes out when you squeeze it—what more could you ask for?
