Maximus - water based lube by Bodywise Limited - review by Darling Jen

The Maximus lubrication is excellent. It's a little thick coming out of the pump but once it warms up on your body, it's almost indistinguishable from my body's natural juices. It's non-irritating and plenty thick enough for anal play as well. I never had to reapply but it's easy to do so if needed because of the wonderful pump.

Because the lube is water-based, it can be used with any toy or just with the human body. The only limitation is that it will wash off almost immediately if used in the shower or any other water environment.

The lube is smooth, slightly thick, and when it warms against the body it softens and feels very natural. But even when it slightly melts against the body, it never becomes runny like water.

But the best thing about the feeling of the lube is after I was done, I could easily rinse it off my hands with just water and it took no more than 5 seconds to be lube-free.

And on another occassion, I even fell asleep without going to wash it off first and it never left me feeling sticky, greasy, or tacky. I woke up and completely forget about the lube. And yet it was still easy and quick to clean off when I washed.

There was absolutely no smell to the lube. Though I didn't go as far as to stick my nose in it, I could not detect it at any point.

And I was never brave enough to put it in my mouth but based on other reviews of this lube, I don't recommend it. It's not specifically aimed at oral use so I'm sure it won't taste great. But what it does for the genital region makes up for that!

I used it for about an hour with no need to reapply. It never become sticky or uncomfortable either. If you plan on using it for more than an hour you might notice that it'll slowly sink into the skin and you'll need to reapply but it will never feel like glue on your private parts.

You can choose to wash it off after if you want but I found I was quite comfortable to fall asleep without cleaning. It didn't become tacky on my private area or on my hands even after sleeping all night. But the clean up is super easy if you are someone who prefers to be clean when they sleep. A quick rinse of water and that's all I needed.

My favorite part of the lube was how natural it felt. My partner has an aversion to lubes with bells and whistles like warming or cooling but this one melted with my body so naturally that it was just like my own juices.

I have to mention the packaging if only to praise the pump handle! How often I've made a big mess trying to use a squeeze bottle or a pop-top trying to apply it directly to the area! Or worse - if you have to reapply and grab the bottle with a already covered in lube? None of those problems with a pump handle! You can control when it comes out and how much and not even use a juice-covered hand.

But there was no actual packaging that the lube came in. Not that it disappointed me because I would have just thrown it out anyway. The pump does come in the down and locked position with a tamper-proof sticker across the top. If you receive yours without the sticker showing it has not been opened, I don't recommend using it.

Something else worth mentioning is that the bottle itself is rather discreet. There are no sexy pictures on it to signal to someone merely glancing around the room to indicate it's use. The only sign of what this are the words "A Water-Based Sensual Lubricant" near the bottom of the bottle. So if you want to try and remove the plastic around the bottle or even cover it with something else entirely, it would look more like lotion than lube.

And though very few people have allergies to water-based lubricants, here is the list of ingredients to determine if this is for you.

Methyl Paraben
Butyl Paraben
Propyl Paraben

If you aren't yet aware, the last 3 ingredients are paraben. And many people go out of their way to avoid these chemicals. They are cheap preservatives used in many products ranging from toothpaste to make-up. And the controversy over them is their possible link to breast cancer in women. There have also been doctors and scientists that worry that these chemicals can react with and negatively affect a person's endocrine system (hormone reproduction and transportation). Just know what you're using and decide what's best for you.

I personally recommend having an array of lubes to choose from and decide which works best for you as an individual.
