Needs a Little Something More

Keep It Up Men's Delaying Gel by Cal Exotics is a propylene glycol based gel that contains benzocaine(2%) to provide some measure of desensitization when applied to the skin. In actual usage, however, this delaying gel seems to fall short as the desensitization is not strong enough to be effective at delaying orgasm. It is a thin consistency and doesn't last as long during use as many quality water based lubricants. It would really help things if it did what it was supposed to.

Use

The reason that Keep It Up Men's Delaying Gel by Cal Exotics exists would seem to be clear from the name. It's supposed to help a man maintain his erection and delay his ejaculation. Kind of sounds like the job for a cock ring, but this lube uses chemical rather than physical properties to do the job. The question is, does it work? Well, that depends. Did it work for me? No, it didn't really work for me. I didn't really notice a reduction in sensation that should come from a topical analgesic like benzocaine. Does that make me an insensitive prick? I guess, maybe it does. Or at least a man with an insensitive prick, but, I digress. I'm not sure if there just isn't enough benzocaine to do the job or what, but it just doesn't seem to make much difference for me. An alternate use might be to de-sensitize the rectum to make anal sex easier. The reason there can be pain associated with that activity is to protect sensitive tissues from being damaged, so I really don't think de-sensitizing the area is a great idea, so I am not suggesting it be used for that.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Keep It Up Men's Delaying Gel is not your normal lubricant at all. The ingredient list is proof of that: propylene glycol, benzocaine(2%), euterpe oleracea fruit extract, punica granatum extract, carbomer, triethanolamine. It is actually alcohol based (propylene glycol) rather than water based. Now propylene glycol isn't your standard alcohol, it isn't drinking or rubbing alcohol, it is actually usually used in anti-freeze. It is, however safe to consume, so you shouldn't worry about ingesting any of this delaying gel although the benzocaine(2%) could cause a little numbness inside your mouth. Uterpe oleracea fruit extract and punica granatum extract are from acai fruit and pomegranate respectively. These must be added for their antioxidant value, however I don't know how effective that is in a topical application. Carbomer is a stabilizer/thickener and triethanolamine is an emulsifier.
The delaying gel is a thin consistency (runny) but is very slick after application. Alcohol tends to evaporate more quickly than water, so it doesn't last as long as good water based lubes. You can apply more of this, or add some water based lube if things start to dry too quickly.

Taste / Aroma

Keep It Up Men's Delaying Gel does have a slight sweet/medicine aroma to it. I didn't find it distracting during normal use, but I could detect it when I had it right under my nose. Propylene glycol has sort of a sweet taste with some bitterness in it. I think the benzocaine(2%) contributes to the medicine smell/flavor as well.

Performance

Keep It Up Men's Delaying Gel did not perform as anticipated. It applies without issue but I did not notice any desensitization either on my hand or on my member. My partner did not report noticing any desensitization on her lady parts either. I'm not sure if 2% benzocaine is just not enough to do the job or if we just aren't sensitive enough to the application. I didn't apply a ton of it, but there was certainly enough so I would have thought it would be noticeable. It really didn't do too badly as just a lubricant, but that is not how it is being billed, so I don't think this is the most effective product of its kind out there. Cleanup was not a hassle either as it seemed to absorb into the skin or was wiped off easily enough. If you have a known allergy to benzocaine or any of the other ingredients, then definitely do not use this product and if you notice any reaction, discontinue use immediately.
