Not Natural, but a Good Glide

The ID Glide lubricant is a great staple, beginner lubricant. It is much better than KY and is worth the decent price. It is best for toys and decent for sex especially if you already have a good amount of natural lubricant to keep it "rejuvenated" longer.

Use

ID Glide has a lot of lubricants. I have only tried a few. This was the one I went to after hating KY. It is much better than KY and is a decent or good choice for many sexual activities. I have found that it is best for use with toys (no need to waste your fancy lubes on toys!), it is pretty good for sex, and is even ok for anal...for awhile anyways. It is a waterbased lubricant that has a fairly decent price.

In terms of safety ID Glide isn't the safest which is why I don't use it often anymore, especially since I have discovered so many better lubricants. It contains glycerin that can cause yeast infections in some women.

Ingredients: purified water, glycerin, propylene glycol, cellulose polymer, polyethylene oxide, sodium benzoate, methyl paraben, carbomer 981, tetrahydroxypropyl, ethylenediamine, diazolidynl, urea, EDTA.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

ID Glide has a great texture and consistency. It is a bit on the thicker side for a water based lubricant. Most water based lubricants, even in a single drop amount, will drip off my hand if I turn it sideways. ID Glide does not move much. This is good because it stays put. I especially appreciate this when using it on toys. I often find that I will drip or pour a water based lubricant onto a toy and it will drip off onto me before I can get a chance to smooth it around. It is easy to spread around and doesn't feel oily or greasy.
It absorbs into the skin eventually and leaves it feeling really smooth!

It is not sticky...at first.

Taste / Aroma

This lubricant has a stronger smell than most that are supposed to non-scented. The smell is hard to describe. It smells like bubbles...ya know, the ones you play with as a kid. It can't be smelled unless your nose is a few inches away. Friction increases the smell though. It also has a bad taste. It is VERY bitter. Some water based lubes are not bad for oral, but this one is.

Performance

This lubricant is sort of middle of the road compared to others I have tried. Starting with toys, it worked well for those since I didn't use any toy more than 10-15 minutes. I felt a bit gooey afterward, but the motion of the toy in and out of me did not seem to be affected. I did need a washing immediately though.

For sex, this lubricant is decent if a few elements are had:

1. Short sex-it takes about 10 minutes to get sticky, IF...

2. You are well lubricated naturally. If you are not, it takes far less time to start to get sticky.

The good news is that spit or water can rejuvenate this lubricant up to about an hour after the original lubrication. I recommend licking your hand and smoothing it around the area that has the lubricant. It is a bit strange. If I leave it on my genitals, hand, toy, and add a bit of spit shortly after, it seems to not get sticky. If I do, it will even blend nicely into the skin and leave it smooth. Otherwise, it remains sticky up to two hours later. So, maybe you want to add a bit of spit of water even before it starts getting sticky. This is why this lube is only okay. It works better sometimes than others. It can be used for anal too. It seemed to last even shorter for this though. If it gets sticky, it can feel pretty gross. So, while it does make things enter the area easily, it can get icky soon after. I recommend this lubricant for toys mostly. it works well for that.

Clean up is required if you don't want to feel sticky. I needed to use soap and water. It should also be noted that this lubricant says it feels natural...it does not.
    • Gets sticky
    • Needs to be washed off with soap and water
    • Reapply often

Packaging

There are so many different sizes for this lube! I currently own the smallest, 1 ounce bottle because it is perfect for travel! It also fits in the packages of many of my toys. It comes in these sizes though: 1, 2, 4, 5.5, 9.5, 17.5, and GIANT 35.5 ounce bottle. I have had the 1, 2, 4, and 5.5 ounce packages. I recommend NOT getting any size that comes in a tube ( 2 and 4 ounce). I have stepped on similar packages by accident and had a ton of lube come out. They are also easier to dispense too much out of. No matter the size, the design is fairly discreet for a lubricant. They do say "personal lubricant" but do not have graphic images or harsh words on them. The one ounce package is great for travel and is easy to use. The flip top stays closed.
    • Does not leak
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Recyclable

Special Features

This lubricant is supposed to have a "natural feeling". I don't feel that it feels that way. It does not mix with my natural lubrication enough.
Follow-up commentary
If you don't have access to eden and have to chose your lubricant from Walgreens or a similar store, ID Glide is a much better choice than the typical KY. However, compared to all the wonderful lubricants on the market, ID Glide does not hold a candle to them. If you are on a budget, I could justify getting this as well. Otherwise, spend a bit more for something better.
