One of the BEST!
The main selling point for me was the antibacterial properties of this product, this is a huge incentive. I'm not personally aware of any other product that has this feature. The con that I listed, although it might turn some people off it REALLY isn't that big of a deal. I felt that I needed to be critical though being that this is a review and it is tough to come up with a negative for this product.Published: March 20, 2010

It's pretty easy to get lost in the world of sex toys, but it's even easier to get lost in the world of lubrications. It seems as if there are a million out there and it's tough to break through all of the hype and make a solid decision on which one is really the best. It's without a doubt that if this product is not THE BEST, it is certainly amongst them.
Starting from the beginning the bottle appears very simple and clean, with a clear bottle and a clear lubricant. The size that we purchased came with a pump on the top which is a HUGE plus. Overall the product has a very clean pleasant appearance and the packaging is ideal.
Without trying to state the obvious the product is a gel and is more gel than water like, meaning you won't have to worry about it going everywhere on application and this provides a great deal of convenience. As far as performance goes this product is one of the longest lasting lubrications that we have used. It lasts a long time for us and even if it doesn't keeping it on the beside and using the pump on the top makes reapplying a breeze in between changing positions. It's so convenient that it won't take away from the experience. The biggest draw of this product though is the fact that it contains a type of anti-bacterial. This will prevent the spread of bacteria and decrease the likelihood of yeast infections, which is a HUGE plus. That right there alone should be enough to sell you. Anyone experienced with yeast infections understand exactly how much of a pain they are. Anything that will fight against them provides a great deal of incentive.
Now although we would like everything we buy to be perfect this product does have one downside which I kind of understand but use this as more of an opinion rather than fact. A few minutes after using the product it turns into like a white foam, which we have NEVER experienced before in any lubrication. I have read of a few couples who keep a spray bottle near the bed and with applying water you "re-activate" the product almost, again don't take this as a fact if it works it works if not then don't hold me liable. However it is worth a shot.
Overall this is a great product and we will continue to use it, if you could only buy one lubrication this one should be it.

I know most people absolutely love this lube, but when I try to use it, it feels like my genitals are on fire! Could it be due to the parabens? Any thoughts, or any recommendations for another thicker water-based lubricant?

I'm not sure if it's kosher to mention a competitor's product here, but BabeLube is a wonderful water-based lube that's comparable in thickness to Maximus.

Maximus is my go-to lube. I have very sensitive skin and have never had a problem with it.

Is Maximus as Great as The Reviews Say?

Two negative things I've seen written are that it has a bitter aftertaste and it does peel off, dry, and need to be washed off.
Positives and opposites I've heard are that it has a natural tasteless feel similar to saliva, and it is a thicker lubricant. Also the pump looks like a great feature that makes this product less messy.
I would like to try it for myself, and wonder if it is really the go-to lube for me, and for others like me. -
This is my favorite water-based lube, hands down and without a doubt. It's pretty thick (ideal for backdoor fun). I've fallen asleep with it on my hands and don't wake up with fuzzy or sticky palms (until they get wet, then it reactivates).

It is slightly bitter but not bothersome. It is thicker and also works very well for anal. I never feel the need to wash it off unless I overdue in the heat of passion.

Does Maximus come in any other size bottles? I feel like 8 oz. would be a lot for me to use before it goes bad. Also, it seems like a big bottle to store somewhere discrete.

It really isn't very big - I have mine it a bedside drawer. Maximus is so thick that you don't have to worry about it leaking unless you really press on the bottle. If my mind isn't playing tricks on me, the bottle is about 2-3/4" in diameter and 4-1/2 to 5 inches tall (including pump), and I think it's closer to 4.5
I think mine's good to 2013 or something (I'm not at home now, but I can check later), so I wouldn't worry about it going bad -
