Maximus has earned a reputation as one of the best lubes out there - and for good reason. Maximus is not like your ordinary water-based lube. It is thick, really thick. Maximus has a very high glycol content - which is similar to glycerol, a syrupy chemical added to many cosmetics to preserve moisture without being oily. As a result, the texture of Maximus is very much like a cooling aloe vera ointment that you would put on sunburns. However, this lube will hopefully be far more pleasurable for when you want to apply it, but it is just as soothing. Maximus was specifically designed to be thick to compete against silicone based lubes for heavy use, namely anal sex. For that purpose, Maximus indeed worked. We were able to use Maximus to easily insert a plug as well as use it for a variety of toys for anal play. Maximus did not fail to impress with how cushioned it felt while using a toy covered in Maximus. By comparison, regular vaginal sex was a breeze too. Even under very high intensity sex, Maximus lasted for over 15 minutes without noticing any loss of lubrication. Usually, when water based lube begins to dry out, it gets sticky. Maximus, in contrast, tends to absorb into the skin instead. If you have natural lubrication, (oral or vaginal), then you may not notice where Maximus ends and you begin. This feature makes Maximus one of the best lubes for very long, marathon sex sessions where you might get sore before you are ready to finish the night. Plus, Maximus comes in a pump bottle that makes grabbing a little more, if you need it, a quick and efficient process without taking both hands off of your "business".

The first and only major problem with Maximus is the inclusion of parabens to its formula. A number of users (thankfully neither of us) report sensitivity to parabens. Sensitivity can range from a slight irritation and itching to Holy Hades burning. It is highly advised that you test a small portion (one drop) of Maximus before using it during sex - which both of us did. Other than the possibility of sensitivity, we experienced no other problems with this product. One of the most common problems with water based lubes is how quickly they wash off if you try to use them in the shower. However, Maximus is so thick that it will even last a few minutes (less than 5) before getting washed off. By contrast, most of the water based lubes I have used during a shower have washed off in a matter of seconds, not minutes.

Maximus itself doesn't really have much of a smell or taste (slight chemical taste). Therefore, I would recommend a flavored lube for oral sex specifically. Likewise, I would recommend a silicone based lube for sex in the shower or prolonged anal sex sessions. On the other hand, you can't use silicone based lubes with silicone toys. Regardless, Maximus excels at so many things that it's hard to criticize Maximus for not doing absolutely everything. I recommend Maximus as one of the few must-have sex toy products that you can buy today.

I really enjoy using Maximus for all kinds of bedroom play. We used Maximus when we wanted to be the most vigorous in bed. The thickness of Maximus really helped prevent as much soreness the day after. Plus, during intense play, it lasted a lot better than other water-based lubes. However, we did supplement our use of Maximus with other lubes at times like flavored lubes for oral or silicone lubes for in the shower. The only thing we haven't tried using Maximus for was more vigorous anal play other than simply inserting plugs. I plan on including that experience in our follow-up.

I still love Maximus. It's still our go-to water based lube. However, for anal sex we noticed that it tends to absorb a little faster than our silicone based lube (Gun Oil) so we added a little more before finished. However, our silicone-based lube (according to my wife) doesn't clean up as easily after use. So, each have their pros and cons. If we weren't trying as hard, we probably wouldn't have needed another application, but it did have a different feel than silicone. So, to each their own...
