Pink is a Woman's Best Friend

After trying Pink for the first time I knew that I had found the perfect lube for me. Simply put, Pink makes my vagina happy!
Published: September 2, 2008
Pros:
A little goes a long way and you don't have to continuously reapply. Not sticky at all!
Cons:
A little harder to clean off than water-based lubes.

extremely useful review
Finding a good lube has always been somewhat of a struggle for me. My husband and I have tried several different brands, normally water-based as this is the most versatile condom-safe/toy-safe type of lubricant. However it seemed like every type of lube we tried was just another disappointment. Then one of my friends told me about a type of silicone lube called Pink and how wonderful it is, so after finding it on Edenfantasys I decided to give it a try.

After receiving the product, my first thought was that the bottle and pump dispenser were very well designed. The glass bottle is very classy, making it something that I wouldn't mind keeping out since its rather attractive. The fact that it has a pump dispenser is just wonderful! I've always hated the caps that you usually see on lube, they're so messy and you end up with lube all over the bottle and whatever you set it on. My husband and I have had several spills from caps breaking as well, resulting in a big mess in the drawer of his bedside table. With this pump dispenser, this really isn't a problem. Not only is it virtually mess proof but it's easier to apply this way.

As far as performance, I couldn't be happier with Pink! It doesn't take very much of it to make things nice and slippery, and what's better, we don't seem to have to reapply nearly as much with Pink as we have had to with other lubes, if at all. We even tried it out in the shower, just to test out how water resistant it really is. I found that the water mainly just rolled right off of whatever the Pink was applied to, which made it great for shower sex, but it also makes it a little difficult to wash off after use, whether in the shower or not. However this wasn't really a problem for me because what I liked best about Pink is that I didn't feel like I needed to wash off after using it since it doesn't get sticky like water-based lubes. Also, because Pink has Aloe Vera and moisturizers in it, my skin seems always feels so soft after using it, which is really nice since water-based lubes sometimes seems to irritate my skin.

Although Pink says it's a lubricant for women, I've found that it works just as well for my husband's needs as it does for my own. I've never been too fond of the taste of any type of lube, even when it's flavored, so I don't normally incorporate lubricant into oral sex. However, since Pink is a silicone lubricant, and obviously doesn't have glycerin in it, there is virtually no taste to Pink; instead it just has a sort of greasy texture to it, so it makes my mouth feel like I just ate some really greasy potato chips. Because it doesn't taste I don't mind using it for a little extra slipperiness when giving oral, and since it's silicone based it doesn't get sticky or need reapplied all the time like water-based lubes do if you try to use them with oral.

When it comes right down to it, I can't really find anything bad about Pink, except for the fact that it can't be used with silicone toys, which means I'll have to find another type of lube for that purpose. However this seems like a minor problem as I only own one silicone toy currently and Pink is so wonderful that I don't see how I could ever have sex without it again!

"For women" is mainly a marketing tactic- lube is pretty unisex, most of the time.
Pump bottles are the best. When (if) you are looking for a good water-based lube again, check out Maximus and Probe.

I've heard good things about this lube lately and can't wait to try it out! Did you have any problems with this lube staining anything? Thanks!

I only put "Woman's Best Friend" because it's now my new best friend and I couldn't think of anything better for a title. My husband and I actually had a conversation about the whole "Woman's Personal Lubricant" thing and we decided it was just a marketing tactic to make lubes more female friendly; I guess I would have to say that their tactic works though as I found it to be more appealing than other lubes based on packaging, label, etc.

As far as staining, we haven't noticed any stains on anything...yet (knocks on wood). Which I found surprising because I've always heard that silicone lubes stain pretty bad. Maybe this one doesn't stain as much or maybe we're lucky. It does seem like this lube stays put a lot better than other lubes we've used, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I've heard from another reviewer that this lubricant is very messy. Would you say the same?

So sorry for the delayed response Sleeping Dreamer, I didn't receive an email that this review had gotten another comment for some reason! Personally I wouldn't say that the Pink lube is messy, but I tend to be messy with lube anyways. My husband and I like to use Pink for sensual massages, so we get it all over anyways. The only thing that bothers me is that it stays slick on your hands so then if you need more and touch the bottle with your lubed up hand(s), it gets on the bottle. Since it's glass it ends up getting pretty slick so even with clean hands you can have a hard time getting a grip on the bottle. I've dropped it on myself or the bed a few times now.

Good review! Even if the item is targetted for females, I still think it's great-and it's so much easier to put among the other pretty bottles on my vanity and hide.

Coralbell is correct - it is however a really great silicone lube in my opinion :) It's one of my favorites.

  • What toys are not safe with silicone lubes?

I heard that certain lubes can't be used with certain toys. Can someone tell me how this works?

Hi Venus - basically, silicone lube and silicone toys are not compatible because they react with one another (silicone may also leave stains on bedsheets and upholstery), but water-based lubricant is fine with any material and usually won't stain anything.

Why would anyone use silicone-based then, you might ask. Silicone-based tends to last longer and not dissolve in water (great for a jacuzzi quickie), whereas water-based is easily washed away or absorbed, which means it won't be as effective as silicone-based over long sessions. Silicone-based also has a nice silky feel, which some people prefer.

      Hope this helps!
    • Other considerations: Silicone lube should not be used with cyberskin or jelly toys, either, as it will melt them. When using lube with condoms or anything containing latex, avoid lube with any kind of oil.

Basically, it's a good idea to stick to water-based lube for use with any kind of toys!
