Probe Slimy and Stringy

Thick and Rich is an affordable and all-natural lube, but the disgustingly stringy consistency and excessive need for reapplication means that it didn't live up to it's name. I was disappointed in the product's performance and I will be looking for a better quality water based lubricant.

Use

Probe is a water based lubricant that can be used for masturbation externally or internally for females, for male manual masturbation, or for couples. Using lube is a good idea to make things run smoothly and essential for anal use or for women whose bodies aren't producing adequate lubrication. Probe is safe for anal, oral, and vaginal use. It can be washed away with water so I would recommend an oil or silicone based lube if you are planning shower play. Because Probe is water based, it is safe to use silicone toys. It is paraben-free so it would be good for those with allergies or who are concerned about chemicals and looking for something affordable. It does have glycerin so if you know you have a sensitivity or allergy to glycerin products, look elsewhere! Probe Thick and Rich is safe to use with condoms. The bottle warns that although not a spermicide, Probe lube has potential to kill sperm and is not ideal to use if trying to become pregnant.

I disliked this lube personally because of the nasty feeling texture and viscosity and because it did not last as long as I would have liked it to.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

The Probe company website claims that Thick and Rich is supposed to mimic natural lubrication.... Close but no cigar! It's is clear and thin, but that's about it for a comparison to natural vaginal lubrication. It is more watery and runny than thick and it does feels a bit sticky. My real issue with the texture is that it's so slimy. There is a long, thin trail that drags with you whenever you open the bottle and try to apply the lube. It's a string-like a cross between a trail of spittle and when you pick up a piece of pizza and the cheese keeps stretching and stretching until you can finally stretch it long enough to break the trail. With the lube, I find this kind of viscosity very messy. A trail of stringy lube will get a bit onto the sheets or floor when it finally falls and collapses. I have had no issues with it staining any of my linens, but this is just is not what I would want in a lubricant at all. I find it gross and it sits in a drawer unused right now. It can be reactivated with a bit of water after it dries up and I would suggest watering it down in the beginning if you decide to buy a bottle because it will settle down the texture and make it feel more slick and less stringy. It was honestly such a disgusting viscosity that I would not want to use it again.

Taste / Aroma

Probe has no noticeable scent when opening the bottle or when applying and using. Personally I dislike strong scents so this aspect of it is great! It does not have any flavor or noticeable taste.

Performance

The lubricant did not last as long as I would have liked and I had to activate with water and reapply a few times during use. I recommend searching for a longer lasting lubricant if you are having a long session or have trouble with producing natural lubrication. It absorbs into the skin fairly fast and would not be a suitable choice to use for massage. It's very easy to clean off with after use since it absorbs so easily.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Dries up too fast
    • Reapply often

Experience

I've only used this lube vaginally but with the amount of times I have had to reapply, I would imagine that it's not the best for anal use. I bought this lube for the affordable price and natural ingredients but I was disappointed in the stringy texture and how it needed to be constantly reapplied. I would not buy this product again and I think it's worth it to spend a few extra dollars on a pricier but higher quality lubricant. I also do appreciate the hilarity of a lubricant named Probe.
Follow-up commentary
I love everything about Probe but the consistency. Which is, unfortunately, a dealbreaker. I feel like if they could thicken it up a bit, it would be perfect. I looked at other lubes made by Probe but people seem to have the same issue. It went to the Bottle Graveyard and sits unused for now.

This sounds pretty disgusting. Thanks for reviewing it and warning me away from stringy lube!

Ewww, stringy is not appealing sounding for a lube! I applaud your decision to use natural ingredients! But, trust me, there are plenty of others to try, such as the Sliquid brand.

I am going for Sliquid on my next purchase! Thanks for the recommendation. I am still on a quest to find a really good water based lube and I will check there next. I always divide to find the price per ounce and go for the cheaper ones lol.

Sliquid is not much different, it doesn't last long either. This person's description covers just about any water based lubricant.
