Silky-Smooth Ride :)
I can't recommend Liquid Silk enough. It's smooth and slick, it doesn't have a strong smell, it doesn't get sticky, and it dries leaving the skin nice and soft. Yeah, it can be a little pricey, but you use a fraction of what you'd use for just about any other lubricant, so the value is there.Published: September 2, 2011
Pros:
Slippery, silky-feeling, comfortable, doesn't get sticky, anti-fungal, glycerin-free.
Cons:
Not quite thick enough for anal play.
I started with a tiny tester bottle of Liquid Silk. I didn't have much experience with lubricants at that time, but I knew I'd found a gem. I love the silky-smooth feel of Liquid Silk on my skin. Once it's warmed up a little, it feels just like my natural lubrication, so it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything. When it does dry, it leaves my skin nice and soft--no plastic-y residue to scrape off! It also wipes off easily enough on a towel, so once my toy's all slick and ready to play, I can ensure I have a good grip on it.
It's very concentrated, so as it warms up it thins a little, and half a pump usually coats my entire toy and then adds a little extra slickness to my labia. I've never had to reapply it for vaginal play (I have had to reapply it for anal play. Liquid Silk is thinner than Maximus, which is by the same company, so it doesn't coat the skin or toy as well for anal play.) The only time I've ever had an issue with this is when I'm trying to slick up a kegel toy for insertion. They're small and require just the tiniest drop of lube, which is kind of hard to get from the pump bottle. I usually wind up with a lot of excess lubricant on my fingers when I'm done.
Even though Liquid Silk is thinner than Maximus, it's thicker than most other lubes commonly available. It's not watery, so it actually sticks to the skin or toy very well. I've tilted my half-full bottle to coat the clear plastic in the lube. It stays on long after I get distracted and wander away from the experiment.
There's also no strong smell to Liquid Silk. I can be quite sensitive to scents, and Liquid Silk has no lingering smell, which is very much appreciated. This also means no added perfumes to make sensitive skin fussy.
According to the company's website, it's also anti-fungal. While I've never had a fungal infection in my lady parts, I can say that when I'm using Liquid Silk more regularly, everything just seems happier down there.
I've tried other lubes since first buying Liquid Silk, and I keep going back to it. It's my baseline now for "good lubricant" versus "bad lubricant."

i get the impression that this is crap......

Liquid Silk's not a bad lube, but "crap" or "awesome" depends a lot on what you want out of your lube. Like, do you want one for anal play or vaginal? For shower play? Are you a stickler for healthy ingredients?

It wasn't bad, but Alan and Michele have a point. What are you trying to get out of the lube?

Liquid Silk and Silicone Toys
-
So, while looking through highly rated water based lubes, I came across Liquid Silk. Aside from the bitter taste, no one seems to have any complaints.
However, I noticed that the fourth ingredient is Dimethicone - and I was wondering what everyone's experience with this and silicone sex toys was? Is the silicone in Liquid Silk a small enough portion that it has no effect on toys, or is it generally not recommended for that type of play?
Or does the bonding potential of silicone lubes have more to do with the type/quality of silicone than anything else? -
That's a really good question because Dimethicone is a silicone.
Basically it should be ok to use as long as the toy is made of medical grade silicone. There should, in theory, be no reaction. I, personally, wouldn't want to test that out on my own toys though. You can do a patch test on a small part of the toy. The reaction should be immediate if there is going to be one.
Anyone else know about this? -
I have had liquid silk react to a silicone toy. Which sucks because I love it. :(

Thanks for the review!
another reviewer has recommended this to me, i just haven't got around to getting it yet... thanks for the great review
Thanks for reviewing this. I was just looking at both Liquid Silk and Maximus last night. I have Maximus on my wishlist, but Liquid Silk sounds great as well.
Good review, thank you!
good review, thanks for sharing.
I wish this stuff didn't have parabens! Also be sure to test this with silicone toys as lesser materials might react with this lube, since it's a water-silicone hybrid.
Thanks for the review.
