Slick and Slippery

If you want a good general, all-around lubricant that you can use for just about everything, get Slick. It holds up well for vaginal or anal sex, and it is compatible with all toy materials. And you get 9oz for around $11. That's a hard price to beat for a quality lube.

Use

Colt Slick is a water based personal lubricant good for use with a partner or with toys. Being water based, it is compatible with pretty much any toy material in existence. It is also compatible with latex condoms. It does contain glycerin, so it is not compatible with anyone with a sensitivity to glycerin! It also contains methylparaben, an iffy preservative for some. I haven't had any irritation whatsoever from using it, but I don't have any issues with skin sensitivity. If you do, you may want to look towards more natural products. That being said, as long as the glycerin or other ingredients are not a concern, Colt Slick is a really good all-around lube. Unlike many thinner lubricants, it holds up well for vaginal or anal use, and it doesn't run all over the place. Unlike some thicker lubricants, it spreads easily and doesn't feel gummy. If you want to buy one lube that will work for just about any situation, this is it.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Slick is fairly thin. I can shake the bottle up to form little bubbles from the air inside and it takes the ones near the bottom of the bottle about two minutes to rise to the top. It runs pretty easily. For the sake of science, I did a little experiment. I poured a dime-sized amount in the palm of my hand, held my arm straight up and down, and timed how long it took the lube to drip down to my elbow. Then I rubbed the same amount into a relatively thick layer on my hand and did the same. Two minutes and 35 seconds for the little puddle. When I spread it around a little, I just had one little stray drip reach my wrist by the two minute mark. So what does that mean? It does run if you just pour it on, but if you just pour into your hand and rub it where you want it, you won't really have any problems with dripping. As for ease of pouring, you do have to squeeze the bottle a little for it to really pour out, which is good. It is not so thin that it pours right out like water. As I said before, I do not recommend trying to pour this lube directly onto a toy, a partner, or yourself. If you do that, it will run and drip.

Once on the skin, it feels extremely slick and slightly sticky. The stickiness isn't enough to bother me, though. Just a slight tacky feeling that isn't really noticeable during sex or masturbation, but you might notice it on your skin after you're done. Had I not sat down and let it sit on my hand and run down my arm, I wouldn't have noticed the stickiness. It also holds up to friction very well. It does not get gummy or stringy and stays slick even if it rubs into the skin almost completely. A little added water can up the slickness once it rubs in if needed, or just apply a little more lube.

Taste / Aroma

It smells like pretty much any other "unscented" or "unflavored" lube I've ever used, which to me means it smells like the liquid bubble solution stuff. The smell is pretty faint, disappearing once the lube has been wiped off the skin or rubbed in completely.

As for taste, this is not a flavored or edible lube. But, once again for the sake of science, I tasted a little of it. Pretty sweet (probably due to the glycerin) and tasted of chemicals. I would keep this stuff out of my mouth if I were you. Once it has been wiped off, though, no taste remains on the skin.

Performance

Slick lives up to its name and holds up very well. I can apply it once and not worry about reapplying it again. I don't really have much trouble producing natural lubrication vaginally once things get going, so for me the real test of staying power for a lube is anal, and one application was enough even for that. It is a little thin, though, so I do use a little more for anal play. It doesn't dry out which is one of the things I love best about this product. Another great thing is how easy it is to clean up. I find it usually just absorbs into my skin. If you want to wash it off, water is really all you need to get it off your skin, unlike silicone lubes which tend to require soap and some scrubbing. This is the best all purpose lube I've tried yet. It has a good consistency, lasts a long time, doesn't reek, and is super slippery. It is great for use with toys or other people, and it works well for anal.

Packaging

I got the 8.9 ounce bottle which is about six inches tall including the cap and maybe 2 inches in diameter. It is clear with a black cap and says Colt Slick Personal Lubricant in fairly large print in black and red letters. So not very discreet for sitting out on your bedside table. This size would be pretty easy to slip into an overnight bag or suitcase to be hidden away for travel, but just be sure to close it very well and maybe slip it into a plastic bag to be safe. The cap has a pop-up opening that has to be pushed down fairly hard to open, but you do not want to risk your luggage getting coated in lube. The cap also screws off. The bottle does have all ingredients listed on the back as well as stating that it is latex compatible.

Special Features

Slick is a basic lubricant with no special features such as a warming or cooling sensation or increased sensitivity. It just makes things wetter and slicker.

Personal comments

For me, one of the best aspects of this lube is the value for the price. $10.99 for the 9oz bottle, and not much more for the larger sizes. And it lasts a good while. I've had my bottle for about a month and a half, and I use it at least two or three times a week. The bottle is still pretty much full. The level of the lube has barely dropped at all, even after my repeated drip tests for this review. And despite being so darned cheap, it works wonderfully!
Follow-up commentary
After 4 months of fairly frequent use, there's barely a dent in the bottle. For the price, there's no beating the quality and quantity of Colt Slick. The lube is still crystal clear in the bottle, too, which is more than I could say for the similar sized bottle of Adam & Eve lube I bought before this. Not two months after opening it the A&E lube was cloudy and yellow, showing that it had become contaminated with something. The Colt looks like it will have a much longer shelf life so most of it won't be wasted.
