The Better Sex Essentials Silicone Lubricant by the Sinclair Intimacy Institute is a fantastic silicone lube. Given the amount of play we do with silicone toys, one might think silicone lubes aren’t even allowed in our house, but we have found one very specific use for this lube and it is our absolute favorite. This lube is perfect for handjobs.

I love Mrs. Peg’s hand on me. Two characteristics of this lube make it our lube of choice when she goes into manual mode. First, it is incredibly long lasting. Silicone lubes are, in my opinion, much like an oil-based lube; it isn’t water-based so it doesn’t really evaporate. More than anything, it gets absorbed into my skin leaving my cock and Mrs. Peg’s hands silky smooth. The other characteristic that makes this such a wonderful choice is that it does not make you too slippery. There is some amount of drag, or friction, retained so a tug job has a little tug too it. This enhances sensation rather that just being so incredibly slippery that you can’t really feel anything. We have uses some other silicone lubes and while they all have this quality to one extent or another, THIS lube has the perfect combination of slip and pull.

Silicone lubes are also water-resistant. I wouldn’t say water-proof, but they definitely hold their own, unlike a water-based lube, in wet environments. This makes them a particularly good choice for sex or masturbation in the shower or tub. If you want to get the lube off your body or toys afterwards, some warm water and soap will go a long way to getting things cleaned. Personally, I just let it stay on my skin because it really does leave things silky soft.

We tend to use water-based gel lubricants for penetrative sex when we need a lube. In fact, our go-to general purpose lube is this product’s kissing cousin, the Better Sex Essentials Gel Lubricant. By comparison, this lube is really thin and pours very fast. So much so that we poured this product into the pump dispenser of another lube that we didn’t like and dispense it that way. Mrs. Peg gets a measured amount and we don’t make a mess. The bottle this lube comes in has a flip-top and if left open and it fall over the lube runs out a bit.


It may not need to be said, but silicone lubes destroy silicone sex toys. That includes silicone blend sex toys, so pick your lubes carefully based on what material your playthings are made from. Another big hazard with this lube is that it is flammable. I mean, really flammable. Check out Toy Time Tim’s Bench test of its flammability here. The other kind of obvious hazard is that this is a really slippery substance. If spilled, because it is so thin, it spreads around quickly creating a bit of slipping hazard, especially if used in the shower or if it gets on a tiled floor. So keep it away from flames, off the floor, and away from your silicone toys and all should be good.

In short, if you are looking for a great silicone lube, look no further. Silicone lubes have a very limited use for us, but the Better Sex Essentials Silicone Lubricant excels at filling this niche.
