Smooth Sailing
Dabbling in different lubes, I found Astroglide to be readily available, long lasting, and overall dependable for a lube. Overall, just great!Published: March 13, 2009
Pros:
Feels natural, widely available, good price, easy cleanup if any.
Cons:
Glycerin and parabens can cause yeast infection or irritation, minimally sticky.
As I sauntered down the isle to that teeny family planning section in the super market, I checked out the lubes because the one I had then was horrible. I was using some k-y something. I thought that paying a couple extra dollars for something that I knew a little bit about would serve me some good. I was wrong. K-y is super sticky. So I picked up some Astroglide because I heard that it was pretty good. I decided to test this theory.
My primary use for lube is anal play, and ending up sticky and uncomfortable after use is extremely upsetting for me. My first use of Astroglide was on my own with an anal plug. I used just a couple bead-size drops on my toy, and was good to go. In all my uses of this lube, I haven't needed to stop and reapply. As for vaginal use, I found that it made me feel too slippery, but maybe that's just because I prefer not to use lube if I can avoid it.
The consistency is like light vegetable oil (sorry if that's a bad example, but it seems to fix to me), and feels like your own juices for the most part. It doesn't make a mess, and washes whatever you get it on. It is slightly sticky, but nothing that will bug you either pleasuring yourself, or having s good time with your partner (believe me, I hate being sticky, but really, it didn't bug me). Clean up, if you find it necessary, is minimal as it doesn't leave that gross residue on sensitive areas, but it’s always good to give your hands a good washing.
Astroglide is water based personal and partner lubricant. Its formula is pH balanced, water-based, water-soluble and petroleum free, as per the description says. This lube is L-Arginine free. A concern is that Astroglide contains glycerin and parabens, which have the possibility to cause a yeast infection or irritation. It has no odor and I haven't tasted it, but my hubby hasn't said anything about an odd taste, so I’m assuming it’s tasteless also.
Per my options of lube, I prefer Astroglide. I haven't tried a very wide variety of lube, but I've found to be content with this one. I've found something that works for me.

Favorite lube?

I absolutely think astroglide is the best all-around lube on the market. Let me know what you think.

Quote: I absolutely think astroglide is the best all-around lube on the market. Let me know what you think.I would definitely agree with you there! I always used to use different KY ones and the occasional one from different surprise-party type companies, but there was always something about them that I hated. Finally I was introduced to astroglide and haven't used anything else since :D

Astroglide is ok, but I find it doesn't work that well for anal sex. I use Maximus for that, as I am naturally a wet person, and don't really need lube for anything else.

98 Reviews? Are You Serious???
-
Can you believe there are 98 reviews on Astroglide? I was just browsing through lubes and thought I might find a good one to review, and I saw that it had 98!!! No kidding, check the page! What do you think of this, folks? Are you as surprised as me?

Most likely because reviewers starting out have to review cheaper items first. I'd guess that lubes and massage balms/oils would be many reviewers' first picks since they'd want to buy the stuff anyway. :P

A lot of people use Astroglide, so it doesn't surprise me. I reviewed it myself :)

Thank you for viewing Astroglide – water based lube review page!

I am glad you liked this as much as I do! Good review!
I personally think Astroglide is way too sticky. Have you tried Liquid Silk?
I have not tried Liquid Silk. I've heard good things about it though.
I really enjoyed the KY intrigue. Is that what you were using?
