Fruit Bomb is a thin lube that works well as a multi-purpose lube but really excels when used for adding a bit of fun to oral sex. It stimulates saliva, making things very slick and slippery and inspires you to take your time and enjoy the flavor. It does have a bit of a diet aftertaste, can get sticky, but overall is a good all around lube. I don't recommend using it for anal play, however, as it is simply not thick enough or slick enough to ensure pain free play.

Use

Climax Fruit Bomb lubricant is probably best used to facilitate slippery, fun oral sex. It is an average lube and performs acceptably for use with toys, penetrative vaginal sex or male and female masturbation but I can't recommend it for anal sex as it is very thin.

As a flavored lube it adds a little twist to oral sex and, in the case of fellatio, helps promote the creation of saliva in the mouth, making things move a lot more slickly. It's fun to lick and lap and nibble at, meaning it can inspire you to take more time when giving oral sex, to make it a bit more fun and playful. It's also quite nice when used for vaginal sex since, if the mood strikes, either partner can switch to oral on the other partner without getting a mouthful of bad tasting lube. It isn't the best vaginal lube I've ever used but it certainly performs adequately.

It does contain glycerin, parabens and aspartame, though, so if you're sensitive, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Climax Fruit Bomb lube is quite thin. Just looking at it in the bottle you can tell it's a liquid lube, not a gel. It sloshes around in the bottle quite a bit.

Thankfully, it's a pump top bottle so application is fairly easy, despite its thinness. I've found it works best to either pump some into the hand (a pump or two is more than enough, at least to start) and then rub it into the body part or toy that needs lube or to apply it by pumping directly onto the body or toy and then rubbing it in quickly. If you take too long, though, it will run and drip.

Typical of glycerin containing lubes it does feel a bit sticky as it dries, but not overly so. You will probably want to wash it off after use and can do so easily with a warm wet cloth. In use, it starts out thin and slick and remains slick for a pretty long time. I found I had to reapply during a hand job but not during toy use, vaginal sex or manual clitoral masturbation, since my own natural lube helped keep it from drying and kept it activated. The same for oral sex, though I did reapply a few times just for the flavor.

Taste / Aroma

I got the Coconut Pineapple Fruit Bomb and it is fairly heavy on the coconut, light on the pineapple. It also has a pretty noticeable "diet" aftertaste. As a side note, it always confuses me when they add aspartame to a glycerin lube since glycerin itself is fairly sweet - it seems so unnecessary and almost always makes the lube taste like a diet soft drink.

The scent, in the bottle, is kind of like that of a pina colada hard candy, if they make such a thing. Again, heavy on the coconut. It begins to smell a little chemically after being in the air, however, which was a little off putting.

Taste is, other than the aftertaste, which many are accustomed to if they drink, primarily, calorie free beverages, decent. Not the best flavored lube ever but not the worst, either. It's sweet, with no actual flavor, kind of like sugar water though the scent will drift up your nose and trick your tastebuds into thinking there is a flavor. (Much like lip balm. That strawberry lipsmacker has sugar and scented oil, no actual strawberry flavor!)

I enjoy using it for the fun of having scented lube during sex or masturbation - I'm a scent freak and like to surround myself by good smelling things - and for the added fun during oral but I'm not likely to drink it from the bottle.

Performance

Overall, Fruit Bomb is an average, run of the mill lube in a nifty bottle and a sweet flavor. It works about as well as regular wet or astroglide; not horrible, not great.

Reapplication can make it kind of cakey as it dries and will leave you slightly sticky, especially after oral. I had to wash my face, his penis, thighs and belly because we felt kind of goopy but it's not awful. If you fell asleep without washing you're not going to stick to the sheets or anything.

My favorite thing about Fruit Bomb is actually the bottle. It's cute and the pump is heavy duty, on the large side and very easy to press and dispense. I think I may have liked the flavor better if I'd gotten raspberry or strawberry but I have so many of those I went out on a limb and tried something new and, while it was okay, it's not majorly impressive. You do get a fairly generous 4 oz and a little goes a long way, which is also nice.

Follow-up commentary I don't like it anymore 16 months after original review

While this lube was okay -- a solid three stars -- when I first received it, it didn't hold up well once opened. This lube definitely changed with time, the aftertaste becoming more noticeable and the consistency becoming a bit thicker and more sticky and tacky to the touch during use.

This is fairly normal as all lubes have a shelf life but was more noticeable in this lube than in other flavored lubes I've tried. Given the choice, I would choose System Jo, Shunga or Wet flavored lubes over this one, though I do still love the bottle!
