Toy lube - lubricant discontinued by Evolved Novelties - review by Sir

Even though it's called "Toy Lube," Evolved's water-based lubricant is a lubricant of average viscosity that can be used with or without toys. Since it is water-based, it is compatible with all toy materials, including pure silicone. It is not an incredibly thick lubricant, so I would not recommend it for anal play. I personally feel that its best use is external use, since it is a somewhat sticky lubricant that leaves behind an unpleasant residue, which would not be too fun to clean out of internal canals.

The thickness of Toy Lube is pretty average in comparison to other thicker lubricants that I've tried; it isn't the thickest, but thankfully, it isn't the thinnest either. When pumped into my hand, it did not move around too much unless I deliberately turned my hand; when I did, it dripped fairly slowly. The thickness allows it to be used anally because it doesn't absorb into the skin too quickly, but it also becomes sticky after it does finally dry up which can be uncomfortable for internal use. On that note, the lubricant does not feel natural — it feels more oily and greasy than natural lubrication does.

Because of the tube that it comes in, it is incredibly easy to administer during play. All lubricants should come in the same pump-top style.

I would not recommend Toy Lube for oral or for general practice; the taste is absolutely horrible. I do not believe that it's an edible lubricant either, so don't even bother trying it (unless you're incredibly curious to see how terrible it tastes, then by all means). It doesn't have a strong scent, which is good, because it won't get in the way of the senses when other scents are involved. The little scent that it does have is pleasant, not overpowering or strange in any way.

Sadly, even though the lubricant has a pretty good thickness for vaginal play, I found it to become sticky and uncomfortable after it dried up. It does not absorb into the skin smoothly as other, better lubricants do; instead, it gives this sticky film that does need to be washed off. Of course, if lubricant is reapplied during play, this is avoided, but once play is over, it does need to be washed off.

One pump releases a substantial amount of the lubricant (about a quarter size). This can be a bit much, so half a pump works pretty well, too.

Toy Lube comes in a small, travel-friendly bottle with a push-down pump top that has a small opening; it also has a cap that keeps everything clean, just in case there's a spill. The bottle is clear and bears a matte finish wrapping that says the name of the lubricant, that it's water-based, and some information about its ingredients. Included is a warning that if "irritation or discomfort occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician." The label also says that the lubricant's "never sticky or tacky," which I completely disagree with.

To be fully honest, I was not too fond of this lubricant. It became really sticky after drying, which meant that using more was a bother because it just became more sticky and beaded up. Cleanup was a chore as well because of this. It isn't a terrible lubricant, it just isn't the best on the market.
