Still looking for perfection but this isn't too far off for me

It's not the holy grail of lubes and I'm yet to find the perfect one, but it's a top runner. Not to mention the at $10 the 2.5oz will not break the bank and is enough to let you really take a go at it. Give it a test drive, lube up your favorite toy or person and go to town.

Use

This is currently my go to lube for nights anal play is involved. It's consistency is thick enough to not run all over the place but is still loose enough that it can easily evenly coat a vibrator or plug. It's water base makes it safe for pretty much all toys and most people, plus its lack of wax and oil means no staining. There is a really nice silky smooth quality to this lube when it is applied. The only time it falls a little short is in active thrusting anal penetration. In my experience it seems to get sticky when there's lots of friction or air circulation in the room. That being said, it doesn't take much to get the job done, so even the smallest bottle will get you through a fair amount of fun even if you do need to reapply from time to time. It is also very easy to clean even when it is feeling a little sticky. This is labeled as an anal lube but containing no numbing agents, it is actually safe for vaginal use also. I recommend this to anyone interested in a good medium thick water based anal lube or anal/vaginal lube.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This lube goes on so smoothly but I can't really say it's slippery unless it's liberally applied. With what is an average application for us, a quarter sized squeeze, it takes a little under a minute of friction before we notice a drag start to appear. If not reapplied it will then start to feel a bit sticky and even powdery on your hands however the sensation during intercourse or toy insertion is not unpleasant.

After application my fingers and applied areas feel like they have been freshly powdered. It is a very soft and not terribly greasy, a lot like velvet plus a little stickiness and it never really seems to soak in either. In my opinion the stickiness is not overly so and nothing that a little more lube wont fix straight up, but it is noticeable enough to me to be worth noting. If you don't like any stickiness or friction from your lube though I would advise you take that into consideration.

On a scale from 1 - 10 in thickness with 1 being the runniest I'd have to give this a lower 7. It is thick enough that it doesn't run all over the place as soon as it's out of the bottle, but it's not so firm that it feels like spreading jelly all over your toys. If I squeezed a pea sized amount of room temperature lube onto my palm just in-front of my thumb and turned my hand vertically it takes a good 30+ second for it to work its way down to the other side. Plenty of time to redirect any that is going astray for those who don't like it messy.

To get it out of the bottle doesn't take much effort. You do have to apply some pressure and squeeze, but it is definitely more of a two finger job then a two handed one.

Taste / Aroma

There really isn't much of a scent. If you get your nose right down into the bottle you may notice a slight smell, but nothing really noticeable. If I had to compare it to anything it would be a lower odor hair gel. As far as taste goes there is a sweet taste to it. Not unpleasant enough to keep me from performing oral sex when its been thrown into the mix however it's not something I would want to taste on a nightly bases. Also even though there are no numbing agents it does make my tongue feel odd in even just moderate amounts.

Performance

I actually like a little friction with my lube so I don't find myself reapplying too terribly often, maybe once every 10- 15 min or unless I am in a situation with lots of air flow, in which case it could be necessary more often. For someone who wants a really slippery sensation I would imagine that they would need to reapply more frequently.

Now for the cleaning. This is a major bonus for this product since clean up is a breeze. A little bit of soap and water and it comes right off of any skin without leaving a sticky or oily residue. Since I didn't need heavy applications of this lube a 2.5 Oz bottle can last me a couple of months. I use it only for nights that anal play is involved but in those instances this is the only lube I use for all toys and my partner both anally and vaginally.

Packaging

The bottle is nothing that screams "LOOOK AT MEEE!" but then again it doesn't have to. The product speaks for itself and the simple clear bottle with the blue trim and blue block letters is the same no matter what size you look at. You'll know it when you see it and more then likely remember it. The wording is straight to the point and not at all discreet H20 Water Based Anal Personal Lubricant. No questions left as to whats in that bottle.

Jo H20 Anal

I find the shape easy enough to hold onto however if your hands are lubed up anything that's not textured, and even some things that are, can slip through them regardless. The top is a basic push here and it pops up there, is easily opened with my thumb on either hand and one nice thing I noticed is mine doesn't seem to clog. So far we have had no problems with leaking either.

Special Features

This is the most basic anal lube offered by System Jo. There are no special features so to speak however if you are looking for a lube just like this plus a little more I would highly recommend you try some of the other products in the line. They have a warming, cooling and extra thick (premium) version of this lube as well. See the similar products links at the bottom.

Personal comments

Since preservatives are present, here is quick ingredient break down for those with allergies or sensitivities. All ingredient names come from the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI).

Propyl Paraben: natural occurring substance found in many plants and some insect but in this instance it has been manufactured synthetically. It is used solely as a preservative.

Methyl Paraben: natural occurring substance found in many plants and some insect but in this instance it has been manufactured synthetically for its anti fungal properties

Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose: This is all manufactured synthetically. This is a gummy substance that is made up of sodium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose and is the thickening agent in this product.

Glycerin: also known as glycerol this comes from natural triglycerides found in fat and oil after a bunch of sciencey mumbo jumbo. This is substance with a known sweet taste and is probably where the sweet taste in the product comes from. It's used to help increase moistness and slicken up the texture. It's also thought to have moisturizing properties.

Purified Water: We all know and love this stuff and I'm not surprised to see it here since it is a water based lube.

Please be aware that although this lube is intended to be safe for all sexual activity and for all toys and condoms, everybody is different and reacts to different ingredients differently. Some parabens and glycerin are know to cause irritation or other problems in some cases. If you are unsure of the safety of this product in your situation I would advise that you consult a pharmacist or your doctor prior to use.

Follow-up commentary
I've gotta hand it to 'em, this is still my go-to lube. Given, I am yet to get my hands on too many other options but then again, where water-based lubes are concerned, I really feel no need to look any further. The bottle I did the review on is almost gone and I will definitely be purchasing another.
