Maximus - water based lube by Bodywise Limited - review by Liz NuMe

The first time I ever bought a bottle of lubricant it was a bottle of good old KY from the drugstore. We rarely ever used it because we almost never needed it. Actually I think that tiny bottle lasted us for years. But the combination of age and hormones meant that we started needing it a bit more often, not to mention the increase in toy usage. So while shopping for toys one day I decided to look into getting a new lube as well, and I had no idea that there were so many others out there to choose from.

Maximus lubricant by Bodywise Limited was the first lube I ever bought online. I did, and still do, like it. But I could tell right away that it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. It's too thick for use during vaginal sex, playtime with toys or masturbation, according to my husband. It is, however, perfect for anal. Because of this, I plan to replace it when it runs out.

Maximus is made of Highly Purified Water, Propylene Glycol Cellulose Polymer, Di Sodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methyl Paraben, Butyl Paraben, Ethyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben. And it is L-Arginine free and Glycerin free. Now if you're like me, most of these ingredients mean absolutely nothing to you. But thanks to a couple of things I've learned around here, I've found that some people have problems with glycerin promoting yeast infections. So if this is an issue for you then it's probably a good idea to not have this in your lubes. I've also learned that some people have sensitivities to parabens, so be cautioned that there are several in this lube. Another benefit of Maximus is that it is Bio-Static, which means it will prevent the spreading of Bacteria, Fungi spores & Yeast infections.

This is a water based lube and is safe for all types of sex and toys. Which is especially important when using a silicone toy, because they can have a bad reaction to silicone lubes, so a water based lube is necessary with them. Water based lubes wash off very easily. Which is great because when you're done playing it is very easy to clean it all off. But that also means that it won't hold up well in water play.

Maximus is a fairly thick lube, and as I said before I really like it for anal play. There are thicker lubes out there that are specifically for anal play but I prefer the consistency of this one. And the thickness also means that it lasts longer than most lubes. But I feel the thickness gets in the way of feeling sensations during vaginal sex or when playing with toys. It also has a bit of a strange taste with a bitter aftertaste. So it's not the best for using before any type of oral play.

Finally, one of the best things about Maximus is that it comes in an 8 oz sized pump bottle that is very easy to use, and should last a long time. I wish there were more lubes that came in this size and had a pump at the top. And the price is great, considering the size and quality of this lube.
