That's where we wanna go, down in Tokomo....
If you are looking for a good sugar-free flavored lubricant, Shunga's Toko Aroma Formula is a great choice. It is slick, nicely flavored, and leaves no aftertaste.Published: August 8, 2008
Pros:
No sugar, nice flavor, lasts without need for reapplying
Cons:
A bit thin, slightly sticky after use
Shunga's Toko Aroma Formula is a flavored, water-based lubricant that is formulated not to have a bitter aftertaste. It succeeds admirably in this goal, and has no aftertaste at all, despite it being sugar-free. It does cause a slight numbing sensation on the tongue, but this vanishes quickly and is very, very minor. I have this in the Strawberries and Champagne flavor, which has a very sweet and very intense strawberry taste and scent.
As a lubricant, the Toko Aroma Formula works quite well. It is fairly thin, and almost feels to me like a silicone lube--slick rather than slippery. I think it is better suited to flesh-on-flesh intercourse than toy play because of its slickness and thinness--it feels somewhat like natural lube. I personally prefer thicker and/or slipperier lubes for toy play.
It lasts well as a lubricant, needing little, if any, reapplications. I only found the need to reapply it for toy play which, as I previously mentioned, is not its best use. For partner play, one application lasted an entire session without drying out or being absorbed into the skin. It never became gloppy or sticky during use, and did not dry into crumbly bits.
Toko Aroma Formula does leave a slight sticky residue on the skin that is easily removed with a damp cloth or soap and water. It does not get gunky or sticky during play; just after play I noticed my skin was a tad sticky. Still, compared to most flavored lubes I have tried, Toko Aroma Formula is very clean-feeling in general; it really does not get any stickier (and actually is less sticky!) than many non-flavored lubes.
It comes in an attractive plastic 5.5 oz. bottle with a flip-top cap and is easy to dispense, as long as you remember it is a thinner lube. I am not generally a fan of the “Japanese erotic art” on the Shunga line of products, but the black and white drawing on this product is better than most of the line.

Toko aroma formula: Sugar?
-
Does it contain sugar, because it sounds lovely, but sugar causes yeast infections.

Quote: Does it contain sugar, because it sounds lovely, but sugar causes yeast infections. The ingredients for this product, as listed under the overview tab, are:
Aqua, Glycerin, Propylene, Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Aroma, PEG 5M, Sucralose, Methyl paraben.
Glycerin has been mentioned by many as a possible contributor to yeast infections but the jury may still be out on that one. I'd say if you are prone to frequent infections, consider it carefully, but if you never get them, you may be just fine.
Sucralose is Splenda, a zero calorie sweetener that shouldn't have any impact on yeast growth. -

Thank you for viewing Toko aroma formula – water based lube review page!

Hmm... not a fan of intense flavors.
Yeah, the flavor is pretty strong, so this might not be for you. Thanks for the comment!
I added this to my ever growing list of things to try. I'm glad you reviewed it, sticky lube and I don't mix.
Thanks
Thanks, Betty! I'm not a fan of flavored lubes, in general, but this is one I owned long before Eden carried it. I think it's a quality product.
Lol, this is the lube I use most and I love it so much. I have been searching for it on EF! Must have been recently added to their line of products.
Thanks for another great review. I tend to prefer milder tasting lubes, so will probably end up avoiding this.
Yes, Naughty Student, I believe they just added it! I was psyched, too!
Beautiful Dreamer, yes, this one is a bit on the strong side, but it's still a great lube!
Just to let you know that this lube does contain glycerin. It's a great lube but it's worth mentioning
Thank you, Naughty Student, for including that information. I'm not sensitive to glycerin, so I didn't always add the information in my earlier reviews. Now that I'm learning more about it, however, I'm trying to make an effort to include information about it in the review.
Thanks!
