The Best I've Tried Yet

I've used several other types of lube in the past for a variety of uses, and, while my wife doesn't like the consistency for vaginal sex, it's definitely the best we've come across for anal. I've used this both for strap-on play with my wife and for anal sex with my boyfriend and in both cases it goes on easy, lasts longer than we do and makes things very comfortable for myself and my boyfriend's somewhat sensitive penis. The taste is slightly bitter, but fades fast.
The thick consistency and the pump bottle mean not much spilling happens, and when it does spill, Maximus leaves no lasting marks on the sheets. Thinner lubes I've used in the past end up on the bed much more frequently and, while I've never had sheets ruined completely, I've definitely had ones that needed a good wash afterwards.
I've never had much difficulty with anal penetration, from the first time my wife and I used our first strap-on, but no lube has made the experience as comfortable as Maximus. Especially with my boyfriend I've found that thinner lubes tend to not spread evenly, which meant we'd frequently find a second application was necessary almost immediately upon getting started, and they also tended to wear out before we did, causing both of us some discomfort and forcing us to interrupt and reapply again. Maximus stays put though, which means you can give any cock or toy a nice even coat, and I can't remember a single time we've had to stop to reapply. Plus, even with somewhat heavy application, one bottle will last you a long time.

I know most people absolutely love this lube, but when I try to use it, it feels like my genitals are on fire! Could it be due to the parabens? Any thoughts, or any recommendations for another thicker water-based lubricant?

I'm not sure if it's kosher to mention a competitor's product here, but BabeLube is a wonderful water-based lube that's comparable in thickness to Maximus.

Maximus is my go-to lube. I have very sensitive skin and have never had a problem with it.

Is Maximus as Great as The Reviews Say?

Two negative things I've seen written are that it has a bitter aftertaste and it does peel off, dry, and need to be washed off.
Positives and opposites I've heard are that it has a natural tasteless feel similar to saliva, and it is a thicker lubricant. Also the pump looks like a great feature that makes this product less messy.
I would like to try it for myself, and wonder if it is really the go-to lube for me, and for others like me. -
This is my favorite water-based lube, hands down and without a doubt. It's pretty thick (ideal for backdoor fun). I've fallen asleep with it on my hands and don't wake up with fuzzy or sticky palms (until they get wet, then it reactivates).

Does Maximus come in any other size bottles? I feel like 8 oz. would be a lot for me to use before it goes bad. Also, it seems like a big bottle to store somewhere discrete.

It really isn't very big - I have mine it a bedside drawer. Maximus is so thick that you don't have to worry about it leaking unless you really press on the bottle. If my mind isn't playing tricks on me, the bottle is about 2-3/4" in diameter and 4-1/2 to 5 inches tall (including pump), and I think it's closer to 4.5
I think mine's good to 2013 or something (I'm not at home now, but I can check later), so I wouldn't worry about it going bad -

the feel is fine. very natural, in fact. it's more the initial appearance of it that skeeved my wife out. its just a bit gloopy and globby right out of the pump.
