The cream is light, the cum will be thick

Oil-based lubes get a bad rap because of the limitations on use (no condoms, no silicone toys), but if you are not bound by those limits they have some excellent benefits. ID Him lube is long-lasting, has the texture of a high end hand lotion and feels great in use. All of that and it cleans up easily. Add to that the nice and not overdone leather scent, and this is one oil-based lube worth trying out. Great for stroking or play with the right toy and/or partner.

Use

ID Him lubricating cream is an oil-based lube. It looks like face cream, and you expect something really thick and greasy, but actually, when you try it out it is surprisingly light. In fact, being used to globbing on water based lubes, I wasn't sure the thin film of lube that ended up on one of my wooden dildos would be enough. To my delight, it was plenty. This lube lasts for days. It was very smooth, didn't need much reapplication and made my rather large dildo slide in just right. The leather scent was not nearly as strong as I had imagined and it added a nice degree of hotness to trying out this lube. ID Him is great for jerking off or for using for penetration. The only caveat- since this is an oil-based lube, don't use it with latex condoms or with silicone toys. It's best for stroking your penis, for wooden, glass, metal, etc. toys or for condomless play.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

In the container it looks like Nivea cream, however it spreads very thinly. It feels more like a light hand lotion than a lube. It was not sticky or greasy at all. You start with a thin film, and when you finish, amazingly you have pretty much the same thin film. Since you are not dealing with a very thick product you don't have any real mess. It cleaned up easily with soap and water.

Taste / Aroma

The advertised leather smell is, like I said before, hot. It is not overdone, and you don't really focus on it unless you are making a point of sniffing it directly. However, it is a nice masculine scent. I did not taste it and would not recommend that you taste it either.

Performance

I spent about 30 minutes playing with one of my larger wooden dildos (since oil is safe on wooden toys) and I was impressed with the fact that the lube lasted with minimal reapplication. I picked a larger dildo that has been a bit of a challenge for me with water based lubes because they dry out more quickly. I was very pleased with the results. My toy felt great and I loved that there was none of the mess I had expected with an oil-based lube. I cleaned up with a wipe and the lube came right off my hands and my toy with just soap and water.

Packaging

Packaging is very compact and the size I used could literally fit in the pocket of your pants. There were no instructions, but it's pretty clear what you need to do. It does have a list of ingredients, which is great because some materials like sugars are not so good to have inside of you. None of the ingredients listed looked like it would cause any problems.

Personal comments

This was my first time using a non-water based lube. I resisted oil in the past because of the anticipated mess and overly thick feel. There was none of that with this product. The smooth feel and the masculine but not overwhelming scent of leather made it a very pleasurable experience to use this lube. While oil-based lubes do pose some limitations depending on how you want to use them, there are plenty of safe options to choose from and you will enjoy any of them with this lube.

Good review. I love the odor of leather. Remember that TPR, Jelly, and TPE and rubber are also toys that will break down when using with an oil based lubricant.

And to add to P'Gell's comment, you actually can use oil based lubes with silicone. I'm curious to try this but I'm not sure I will like the leather scent. Also, I don't think I like that this is a screw top jar, doesn't seem very sanitary. Thanks.

@Antipova- I did also use it for masturbation and it felt great!
@ P'Gell- definitely. Make sure to check to see that whatever toy you are using is compatible with oil-based lubes.
@Kindred. The sanitary point is a good one. Since you have to stick your hand in the jar to get the lube, it's probably best to make sure you aren't using this with multiple partners. A dispensing container would definitely be better.

    • If I were going to use oil, I'd just use coconut oil. Most oil lubes have a ton of unnecessary ingredients that might be irritating or harmful. If you're looking for something on eden, I'd go for one of these, probably one of the thicker/harder ones.
    • Of all the different lubes one can use for anal sex, oil based do tend to be a favorite of a group of users.
