This toy was definitely designed
Everyone has heard about
Astroglide. If you asked any of your friends about lubes they have heard of or even used most of them will probably mention Astroglide. Therefore, this was obviously one of the first lubes I went for when D (my girlfriend) suggested we needed something new. I had heard great things so why not, right?
Astroglide's scent is about like most other lubes. It isn't all that noticeable unless you are actually TRYING to smell it. It also tastes about the same as most other water-based lubes, which to me is a really odd flavor. In use, Astroglide started out great, but quickly became sticky and uncomfortable. The only solution would be to interrupt the action and apply more. This happened WAY too much. D is in no way a “wet” girl, but we have used other products with much more success.
After about 20 minutes of use, and about 3 reapplications, D noticed a strange feeling on her outer lips, like a burning sensation. This put a complete halt, to anything so she could go to the bathroom and clean it off. Thankfully, Astroglide quickly cleans off with a little water. Needless to say this was the first, last, and only time we ever used Astroglide for vaginal sex.
I tried Astroglide with one of my
penis sleeves, and it served its purpose fairly well there if things went semi quickly. However, I can use a little bit more in a sleeve and not have it complain that it is too much. Even then I noticed that on a slower session things still felt sticky.
After all the hype I am extremely disappointed. Many people, including good friends, look at Astroglide as a great lube. However, after its use I am left wondering if this is just due to the fact that they have never used anything else, or if they just don't use lubes enough in general to know any different. I think a vast amount of its popularity comes from its availability. You can easily pick Astroglide up from a local drugstore or even supermarket.
In closing, I recommend anyone looking at Astroglide, to not buy into the hype. I feel that there are many better, equally available and priced products, such as the
WET line of lubricants from Wet International. In the end, I am giving Astroglide 2 stars, due to it being so popular and decently performed its job in solo play.
Astroglide also ruined a few of our toys. It fell over inside of our toy drawer, and leaked. The bottle was tightly sealed, but the product still managed to leak out. One of my cock rings and a sleeve was nearby, and ended up sitting in a small pool of lube. When we realized what had happened, it was too late and parts of the cock ring and sleeve had melted where they were in extended contact with Astroglide.
Is there any particular WET lubricant you'd recommend?
Beautiful Dreamer - They were made of your basic jelly material.
Cock Wrangler - We are planning on trying out Maximus very soon due to the great reviews from practically everyone.
That is scary. I would have hoped that a water-based lube couldn't do damage to any sex toys, even ones with not-great material. It's totally true the most of the popularity of this lube is just about availability and hype.
Check out Maximus!
Sometimes people just don't know they have other options. Astroglide= astronomical fail.
What kind of material was the cock ring and sleeve? That's kind of scary... seeing astroglide is water based.
I think people just don't know any better. Sad but true.
