Thick + Rich = Luxurious

Probe Thick & Rich is a fine all-purpose lube-- just be aware that there are some aspects which might not work for you. Water based, safe for toys & condoms, it's also really economical for the amount you get, but I could see someone being disappointed in their investment if they didn't like it.
Published: June 15, 2010
Pros:
Paraben-free, comes in a pump bottle, affordable for the quantity you get.
Cons:
Maybe too much if you don't like it, it's stringy, contains glycerin.

Use

Probe Thick & Rich lube is a water-based lubricant, which makes it good for almost any application (it will rinse off, so don't take it into the shower unless you want to re-apply constantly). It has staying power, and you don't need a huge glob to get the job done, so it lasts a long time-- in the momentary, sexual sense, and also in the long term. It's great if you need a little more slide, and since it's, as its name implies, thick, it's also useful for anal applications.

Since it's not silicone-based, it's safe to use with silicone toys and condoms. It does contain a lot of glycerin, though, so if you're prone to yeast infections, this might not be the product for you.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This lube has a somewhat unique texture; it is slippery, but not thin. It globs and will more or less stay in one place for awhile (it migrates slowly). The bottle that I got it in was a pump bottle, like lotion, so it came out in squeezy portions that were about right (one or two usually was all that was needed). On my hands, it felt slightly gooey, thick, and a bit prone to drying. However, it stays slick for quite awhile.

One thing to know: this stuff is stringy as all get-out! This is the melted mozzarella cheese of lube-- it will string along for a LONG time before it breaks-- but if you don't mind getting a little extra on your hand/arm/etc, it's no big deal, and worth the texture, in my opinion.

Taste / Aroma

This had no discernible taste or smell-- I'm pretty sensitive about those things, and this lube didn't invade on my experiences like some other lubricants have. It also is clear, which is, for me, reassuring-- unnatural colors, flavors, or dyes make me nervous to put on my grrrly bits!

Performance

This product is a mixed bag. The stringiness can be a little inconvenient and maybe make things extra slick, but I'm rarely opposed to that-- better too slick than not slick enough. I've used it in a few different ways and it never needed re-application, and one or two pumps of the dispenser was enough for an evening's diversions. Afterward, it will dry and feel slightly sticky, but rinses off with water easily. It didn't stain my sheets where it got on them, but my sheets are dark cotton, so I can't say if it would affect lighter-colored fabrics, satin, or anything like that.

This lube is fairly all-purpose with few drawbacks. It's affordable, you get a large quantity of it, it has natural ingredients (including grapefruit seed extract or GSE), is easy to use and clean up, and doesn't pose the health risks of lubricants that contain parabens.

Packaging

Probe Thick & Rich (in the larger size) comes in a tall pump bottle with a pink label. It's not very difficult to tell what it's for; I wouldn't call the packaging explicit or discreet-- it's somewhere between. Since the bottle has a pump top, it is easy to close for travel (though I'd probably still put it in a zip-closed plastic bag for flights), and it is unlikely to pop open from pressure and spew its contents all over your stuff.

Follow-up commentary
Despite the stringy-ness, this lube is still slippery as fuck (literally) and quite amazing and abundant! I still have plenty left. Highly recommended if you're not weirded out by the viscosity.

this contains 'vegetable glycerin' however, while most lubes contain 'glycerin.' is the plant-derived formula vs. the synthetic alright for vaginas?

  • Vegetable Glycerin?
    • I've been trying to find a nice lube with safe ingrediants but so far i've found very few and even those have been question. I've read that Vegetable Glycerin is made from vegetable oil and is good for the skin. But i've read that Glycerin can cause skin irritant in some people and in concentrated solutions can damage the mucous membranes. Is there a deffernce with Vegetable Glycerin and just plain Glycerin? or is it the same thing? Is it safe enough to use in lubes? What other ingrediants should i be warry about?
    • Glycerin is glycerin no matter where it comes from. Calling it vegetable glycerin is an attempt to trick you into thinking its something different. It may have different impurities, coming from a different source, but its still glycerin.
    • Glycerine is a component that is found in ALL animal and plant cells (including your own cells).

By specifying vegetable glycerin, the manufacturer is only trying to convey that the source of the glycerin is vegan friendly to those who have such concerns. But the chemical itself is the same.

I included a write up of several lube ingredients that people often seek to avoid in one of my reviews (look under the Personal Comments section). I also included links to reliable resources for checking any chemical about which anyone might have concerns. Here's the link to the review: link

Perhaps the descriptions of the various ingredients might be helpful.
