This silicone lubricant will outlast you!

Published: September 29, 2008
extremely useful review
Toko Silicone lubricant is a great quality lube at a great price. This lubricant lasts for a long time, works great in the water, and provides a velvet glide.
Pros:
Velvety feel, stays slick longer than you’ll probably last, high quality ingredients, great price.
Cons:
Poor bottle design, thinness makes it a little difficult to apply.

I’ve never personally used silicone lubricant. Silicone lubricant lasts longer than water based because it is not absorbed into the skin. It is also the lubricant to use in water play as the lubricant does not wash away. Premium silicone lubricants are also allergen free and non-irritating. The only caution with silicone lubricant is that it should not be used with silicone toys as it can cause a reaction with the material. [Editor's note: this includes toys with some silicone, like TPR silicone.]

As far as how it worked I was pretty amazed. I like getting off in the shower, but sometimes it provides a little more friction than I would like. Using a small amount of the Toko silicone lubricant created a velvet-like glide as I stroked myself. It also did not wash away the entire shower. Not washing away means it does take either some time to wear off or a lot of scrubbing. I prefer to clean up and then let the small amount of residue wear away. I also used this for sex with my girlfriend. Usually water-based lubricants wear off before we’re done, but that was not the case with Toko. It lasted throughout the entire night, was very velvety, and never felt tacky or gummy. We were both so pleased, it will probably become our go-to for most nights.

The only ingredients in this are dimethicone, dimethiconol, and cyclomethicone. Because there are no additives, the Toko Silicone lubricant is considered premium lubricant. Dimethicone provides a more velvety texture if it is the main ingredient. It also happens to be the most expensive, so the price per ounce of Toko Silicone lubricant is actually more cost effective than most other premium lubricants out there.

The biggest downfall of this lubricant is not the product itself but actually the container. While I really like the look of the bottle, it is a flip top lid. I have luckily have not had problems with leaking yet, it does become quite messy when you’re in the heat of the moment and need some lubricant. Because the lubricant is thin it’s very easy to over-pour. Silicone does not wash off easily, which makes for great sex, but a disaster for sheets. I don’t mind getting the stuff on my own sheets, but my girlfriend would be less than thrilled if her pricey sheets had silicone stains all over them. Throwing a towel down prevents this.

Toko Silicone lube was a very positive first experience with silicone lubricant. Even with the bottle design, I’d still rate it a five. The high quality ingredients and great price per ounce means I will probably stick with this one. I’m quite pleased with the results and am glad I tried it.
Experience
As far as the problems with the container, my girlfriend found a cute little glass bottle with a pump that I’ve since transferred the lubricant into. This makes dispensing much easier and it also allows me to leave it lying out without concern.

Nice review! I think all lube should come in standard pump-top bottles, personally. Does it wash off well with soap, or is there still a little residue left?

Seems like this brand is really good! I agree, a dispenser would probably be better. My O'My bottle is all gross because it doesn't have a pump.

I with CW and Epiphora - the best lube bottles are pump bottles. This is a good lube, though, despite the bottle and it's cool that you found a nice pump bottle to transfer it into. I might have to consider doing that with my favorite lubes. CW, my personal experience with this lube is that it will mostly wash off with soap, but usually I still feel like some remains, but it almost feels like a moisturizer. Thanks for the review Bill.

Cock Wrangler, Jimbo Jones hit it right on the head when he said it does wash off, but feels like a moisturizer is left. It's not a bad feeling though.

Epiphora, I was worried this bottle would spill or get covered in lube if we didn't transfer it. Luckily, she found a cute container or we were going to use one of her old hair product dispensers.

Jimbo Jones, Thanks for the comment! I would recommend transferring it. It makes it so much easier and cleaner.
