Wet platinum bodyglide review

I like Wet Platinum, especially for anal sex, or skin on skin (w/o condoms). It's a bummer that it can't be all purpose since it's no good for silicone toys.
Published:
Pros
Super slick, paraben-free, affordable, non-stinky and non-sticky.
Cons
Can be too slick (on your hands or with condoms), can't be used with silicone toys.

Wet Platinum bodyglide|Wet platinum bodyglide is one of the best lubes on the market. It comes out slick, stays slick, lasts a long time, is paraben-free, and doesn’t smell. The downsides are that since it’s silicone based it can’t be used with silicone toys (bummer), and it takes some real scrubbing to wash it off.

I hate when lubes dry up before I’m finished using them. Silicone lubes|Silicone based lubes do not evaporate or absorb as quickly as water based lubes|Water based lubricants do and this product is no exception. On average, if I have to reapply during sex, it’s only once and usually somewhere between foreplay and penetration just for good measure. I really love this lube for anal for this reason. As with many good things though, this is a double edged sword. Get it on your hands, and they will be slippery until you wash them. Anything you touch will get lube on it.

One thing I don’t like about it is that I find when I use it with condoms, it makes things too slippery. Some friction is part of good sex, and it all but disappears when you combine this lube with a condom. Maybe a matter of personal preference, but I think it lubricates much better skin to skin that skin to latex.

Another great feature is that it can be used “under water”. Since I don’t have a pool or hot tub at my disposal, my partner and I tried using this in the shower… which was a BIG mistake. Remember that part about must wash off with soap to make non-slippery? We got a DROP, really not much at all, on the shower floor, and it was practically too slippery to stand in, let alone have sex in. I guess it’s not such a problem if you’re completely immersed, but in the shower, fugget-about-it.

My only other reservation is that this is silicone based, and some of the product DOES absorb into your tissues. Call me an alarmist, but I’d prefer to minimize the number of potentially harmful substances that my body’s metabolizing. For this reason, I prefer Wet Naturals|Wet naturals silky supreme unless I really want to slip and slide.

What does it feel like when it dries? Gummy? Flakey?
  • Contributor: Lollie
Actually, I don't know! Almost every time I can remember using it, either my partner or I have had some alarming burning where ever the lube is.... and it's been washed off pronto. From what has stayed on my hands longest, I'd guess it goes the gummy route fastest.
