Wet platinum bodyglide review

Wet Platinum Bodyglide is not the best silicone lube I've ever used. It is not as slick or as waterproof as other silicone-based products I've tried, it tends to get tacky, and it requires frequent reapplication.

Pros:
Tastless and odorless
Cons:
Requires frequent reapplication, not as waterproof as I like a silicone lube to be

extremely useful review
I wasn’t as crazy about Wet Platinum Bodyglide as some of the reviewers on this site seem to be. It wasn’t a BAD lube, I just wasn’t terribly impressed, especially considering the price.

After a mediocre experience with my last silicone lube, I pulled out my trusty lube tester and resolved to try again (I use a fairly hefty, bulbous jelly vibe to test lubes). I found the lube to be extremely thin, almost like water, and not as slick as some of the silicone lubes I’ve used in the past. It DID reduce friction, but not as much as I’d hoped; it felt more like some kind of funky lotion than a lube.

Wet Platinum Bodyglide is odorless and tasteless, though I never like the feeling silicone lubes leave in my mouth. It performed adequately, but not exceptionally, and I had to reapply it more often than other silicone lubes I’ve used. It had a tendency to get kind of tacky and lose its lubricating qualities rather quickly. It never got sticky or uncomfortable, just sort of thickened up and lost its slickness.

This lube also did not hold up in water as well as I think a silicone lube should. It did maintain some slickness, but a lot of it seemed to wash off with the water. When I was finished, I was able to clean up to a comfortable point with just some water and a dry towel, and the lube rinsed off the toy with just water and no soap. This was definitely a drawback for me, since my main purpose in using silicone lubes is for water play.

Overall, this wasn’t a horrible lube or anything—it did get the job done, it just needed frequent reapplications and much more lube than something that costs this much should require. If you’re a fan of silicone lubes, by all means give it a try; I just think there are much better water-based lubricants out there that also feel like natural lubrication.
Follow-up commentary
I've given it several chances, and I'm still not a fan of this lube, despite its usual high ratings. I definitely prefer ID Velvet or, my favorite, Eros Bodyglide when it comes to silicone lubes.

Oh, too bad you didn't like this lube. I like it, but it's the only silicone lube I've tried so I guess I don't have a lot of reference. You're right that it doesn't last well enough in water, but I found it was pretty good otherwise. Good review! :)

Thanks!  Like I said, I didn't hate it, I just don't think it's worth the price.  I'd recommend ID Velvet as a high-end silicone lube instead.

You used it on a jelly vibe? Jelly toys scare me. Phthalates that are in them have been the cause of lots of health problems. You might want to look into that. Good review, though.
