What Gel?

If you are looking for a lubricant to use when you plan to have short masturbation sessions, this lubricant can be a decent choice for that. If you have other plans, look elsewhere. It doesn't stay put, isn't gel like, gets sticky, and has a bitter taste. I wasn't wowed in anyway.

Use

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I have tried a lubricant that is labeled as a gel. I expected it to be really thick and gel like, duh, since it is in the name. This supposed water based gel was nothing like I expected. It's runny, sticky after time, and really nothing special. It doesn't work well for sex of any kind, but it decent for sex toys of firmer materials. Due to its cheap price, it's a good choice for those types of items since it won't drain your bank.

While it does have not good ingredients, it also contains some not so great ones too. They are as follows:

Deionized water, glycerin, carbomer, PEG, propylene glycol, aloe vera extract, tocopherol acetate (vitamin E), cellulose gum, sodium benzoate, methylparaben, carbomer 941, hydroxyethylcellulose, polysorbate 60, diazolidinyl urea.

Glycerin can cause irritation or infection in some females. If you have sensitivities to this ingredient, I suggest looking for a different lubricant.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Surprisingly enough, I found this gel lubricant to be REALLY runny! I was expecting it to be, well... a gel that was thick and stayed put. This is not the case. It feels a lot like a cheap water based regular lubricant that has no gel like qualities to me at all. It does smooth around easily, but tends to get sticky quickly, especially with skin to skin contact. It stays slick with toys much longer.

Taste / Aroma

This lubricant has a typical water based and glycerin including smell. It's vaguely sweet smelling, but not specific. It isn't strong either. It has a bitter taste that makes this lubricant not a good choice for oral either. It needs to be washed off for oral in our experience.

Performance

VAGINAL TOYS:

I'll start with the best use since most ways were complete fail. The best use for this lubricant is with harder toys that are for vaginal use only. The lubricant stayed slick and didn't need reapplication for about 5 minutes when used with toys that are glass, metal, and very firm silicone. With toys that are of softer materials, it tended to gum up a lot faster. My boyfriend thought it felt gross when used in his Fleshlight for more than a few minutes. So, if you like to masturbate and finish in a relatively short period of time, this is a good lubricant for that. I still wanted to wash myself off immediately after, though.

ANAL TOYS:

Wet Gel is simply too runny to work well for anal no matter what type of toy it is. I prefer thicker lubes that don't need to reapply and don't make me feel gross during use.

VAGINAL SEX:

If you have nothing else to use, this will work, but it's not good for long periods of time. It feels gummy and sticky after a few minutes, even shorter than use with a toy. It can somewhat be rejuvenated with spit or water, but not for long. The length seemed longer when used with a condom, but this will never be a lubricant we will choose to have sex with again. In fact, we will avoid it. We immediately wanted to wash off and felt gross. After applying it in the first place, I wanted to wash my hands!

ANAL SEX:

We didn't even attempt to use this anally. Since my partner uses his hands to guide him in and out and there is a lot of touching going on, he won't use any lubricant will make him feel icky. I don't recommend using this lubricant this way.
    • Gets sticky
    • Needs to be washed off with soap and water

Packaging

Depending on the size you get, the package will be different. This lubricant is available on Eden in the 0.8, 1.5, 3.5, 4.8, and 10 fluid ounce varieties. I have the 1.5 ounce option which comes in a small, shaped plastic bottle. I prefer this size because I have a lot of bottles from WET in the same design. They make for good travel items and don't leak like the flip tops can sometimes do. It has a push to open cap that is easy to use.

The packaging is sort of discreet because the language isn't necessarily sexual. It says "Gel Body Glide". The word lubricant does not even appear on the front of the package. It's small and easy to hide as well. The expiration date appears on the bottle. Mine says 4/2014, so it claims to have a good shelf life. In my experience, this types of lubes get worse with time, even before the expiration date passes.
    • Does not leak
    • Travel friendly
Follow-up commentary
I didn't even bother keeping the rest of the bottle of this lubricant. It got tossed, almost immediately. I did try another gel lubricant and it was SUPER watery! I think I am just going to stay away from gels.

We tried this brand out at first before moving on to different and better varieties. We definitely concur with the entire review. There is honestly little use for this product other than a solo session for him. Great review. Well said.

  • Anyone else?
    • I have been using ID pleasure for years. I tried WET and it seemed to be a bit more watered down to me. Not a bad thing just not my thing.
Anyonee lse have this going for you too?
    • I used to hate Wet products, they came off as cheap.
Until I tried their synergy line. I fell in love with both the original, and the tingle lubricant.

The Synergy is water and silicone mixed, which produces a gel. I hate water down lubricants.
As long as you don't use it with silicone toys, its fine.
    • I used to feel the same way about wet

  • Why not the same looking containers for this product?
    • Why is the 3.5, the 4.8, and the 10 oz bottles of this lubricant sold in cool looking bottles, while the 0.8 amount and the 1.5 sold in smaller, weirder shapes? Why not miniatures of the cooler versions? Why a toothpaste looking bottle and a hand sanitizer looking bottle? Comments? Agreements?

I'd assume that's just the bottles that the manufacturers felt were best for their item. Certain sizes will do better certain ways because of how they have to flex to squeeze the lube out.

Personally I don't care either way for stuff like this, none of the bottles are something I would want to display and the ease of use on all of them seems about the same, so it's not going to make a difference to me between the options.

At the size of the bottles for those smaller ones, the "neat" bottle wouldn't work. The little "handle hold" on the side of the bottle would actually be the entire length of the bottle. There just isn't enough product to warrant making the bigger bottle. However, if you contact Wet Lubricants, they always take suggestions well and could explain it further.
