Darque french maid - costume discontinued by Coquette - review by Persephone Nightmare

First off, let me just say that the Darque Maid costume is absolutely *gorgeous*! Words do not describe how much I love this product. I honestly think that I've developed a rather unhealthy relationship with it.

It is mostly made out of shiny, black vinyl, and frilly white lace with a satiny apron. The costume has a lace up sort of corset style back, meaning that it can be adjusted to fit. There are three strips of plastic boning in the front, giving the front a nice, flat appearance, all the while remaining flexible and comfortable.

It also comes with a matching headpiece, which is very well made and complements this costume perfectly. While you technically don't *have* to wear it with the rest of the costume, I feel it adds just that extra touch and makes the costume complete for me. Also, as suggested by my fiance Synthetik, it could be used as an impromptu blindfold, should you so desire (although you can see a little light from the area around your nose, depending on how you adjust it, you can't see much of anything).

I was so worried that this costume wouldn't be of good quality, and that it wouldn't hold up to the rigors of when Synthetik and I play (or just wearing it in general). This product, however, put my concerns at ease. It is of great quality and so far has held up very well. Even the lacy petticoat part was intact, even though for a minute I had a bit of a scare. As I was adjusting during play time, I felt it under my knee, but it stood up to the abuse and still looks beautiful.

This is a product that could be used not only as a Halloween Costume, but also for role-playing, play parties, and just about anything else one can think of.

There are only a couple things that I didn't particularly like about this product, but, they are definitely not deal breakers and don't bother me too much.

1) The costume, unfortunately, cannot be put into the washer or dryer, and *please* do not do so. With a product this well made and beautiful, trust me, you do not want it to be ruined. It can, however, be hand washed, which is a very good thing, as:

2) It can be sort of warm to wear at times. For me at least, it's nothing I can't handle (I didn't even get too hot in it during mine and Synthetik's play time), but some may be bothered by it more than others.

3) The fit of the costume. I got this in size 1x/2x and while it pretty much fits everywhere, it will not fit my boobs. (Here are my sizes as references: Size 16-18 in pants, 34C bra size, and I'm about 5' 9") *However* I do not hold this against the costume itself, as I have had such issues in the past with different shirts, dresses, and other outfits where it will fit everywhere on me, but the chest area will be too big. So, I have modified it slightly so that it fits better.
