Turquoise-hot pink babydoll & g-string - babydoll and panties set by Espiral - review by Adriana Ravenlust

There are two things that you absolute must know about this babydoll.

The first: it's incredibly sheer in turquoise. The product images do not appear this way, because of lighting and flash, but I can assure you that this fine mesh leaves nothing to the imagination. This isn't a problem if you want it only for lingerie but if you're considering it as a nighty/sleepwear and maybe want something roommate safe.

The second issue is that this runs extremely small. The size chart actually reflects this pretty accurately, with the sizes running about 2-inches smaller than similar retailers. However, you may overlook this as I did and wind up unhappy with your order.

I usually fall between a large and XL. I ordered the large, initially. While I could squeeze into it, it was tight and uncomfortable, mostly around the empire waist which just didn't have enough stretch to it. I exchanged this for an XL to find that the fit was barely any larger -- or so it felt -- and it's still a little uncomfortable about my rib cage. However, there is no larger size so please, please pay attention when ordering.

With that said, the design is cute. The pink against the turquoise looks pretty and I was excited for such a bright piece. In the images, the contrasted pink stitching looks lighter than it it in person and the ribbon around the waist is slightly warmer in hue than it is.

The mesh is super fine and feels silky against the skin. The pink details around the breasts and halter strap are a reinforced stitching which make this area slightly less smooth and silky. The halter piece is actually stretchy mesh, not tying, so you may find it doesn't fit you well if you're either on the extremely tall or short end. I actually found it fit me well and I'm only 5'2" so I'm pretty sure this may be a stretch for some taller ladies.

The design also offers minimal support for the breasts. The waist is defined by a piece of reinforced elastic; however, in the front, a piece of pink ribbon is sewn to it and formed into a bow between the breasts. This reduces the stretch of the front of the piece, which I'm sure contributes to the small sizing. The ribbon isn't actually fully sewn into place. There's two horizontal placements of stitching, on either side of the rib cage, and the ribbon edges are sewn vertically to the side seams of the babydoll. Those horizontal stitches seem a little sloppy looking to me but the thread is the same color as the ribbon so you may not even notice.





If you're especially well endowed, over a D-cup, I think you might find this a bit flimsy and perhaps even lacking in coverage. Both the large and XL fit my C-cups fine, which makes me think these also run a little small in the chest area. Furthermore, the halter may strain your neck with the weight of your beautiful breasts. However, because the cups aren't fitted, you can stretch to arrange them over your breasts.

The rest of the piece is a loose flowing turquoise mesh that drops from the waist line. It falls to the mid-thigh, give or take. In the back of the piece, the elastic sits beneath the shoulder blades, as you can see in the product images, to show a bit of skin.

This babydoll comes with a thong that simply consists of mesh and elastic. It's not as pretty as the babydoll because it lacks the pink detail, in my opinion.

One thing I'd worry about, is the ribbon eventually ripping. It's folded over once but not hemmed in a way to provide real strength, especially if you're trying to force the elastic of the waistband to stretch a little bit more. Because of this, I'd be very careful when taking this on and off.

The tag is sewn into one of the side seams and is papery, not fabricy. It includes the company's URL but no care instructions. I'd wash it in the machine, on the gentle cycle and fluff dry, if your machines let you.

I decided to give this on to someone who might like it more. The cups just didn't extend far enough to the side of my ribs/body, and the color wasn't great for my complexion. I really wanted this to work but it's just not me.
