Baby blue

This piece is a little bit high maintenance, but it's seriously pretty. If you're willing to put in the effort for maintenance, then I definitely recommend giving it a shot, especially if you're bigger in the bust. Don't expect a lot or support, but the right bra can be worn comfortably underneath, so all hope is not lost.

extremely useful review
Coquette has never failed to impress me with just how pretty their pieces can be, and this babydoll was no exception. I bought it after trying the same style in dusty rose from their Spring/Summer 2013 collection, and actually wound up liking this one even more. I won't bore you by going into details there except to say that busty girls can rejoice.

Because I definitely had to size up from the small that I need for my underbust to the large I need for the girls, there was no actual support to be had from the baby doll itself. This isn't a deal breaker for me, but it does make me wish that Coquette had made the bra portion a little bit more adjustable. That being said, the straps, at least, are fully adjustable, so ladies that are a little longer or shorter in the torso don't have to feel left out. The straps are also quite thin, which can be a bit of a letdown if you choose to wear this with a bra as I do, because they give no coverage at all.

The fabric of the babydoll is perhaps both its greatest strength and most upsetting weakness. The skirt is a very fine, soft lace, which looks delicious in Royal Blue even against my alabaster skin tone. Luckily, the bust is reinforced, and the gathered sweetheart neckline is very flattering. The straps and sides of the g-string are black elastic, which doesn't really do much for the piece, but nor does it detract from the sweetness of the look. The underbust is also marked with a pretty, yet simple, black ribbon and bow - it helps to create a defined empire waste despite the fact that the underbust is miles to big for me, so it's a huge plus in my books! Length-wise, taller ladies may not find the coverage they desire: this falls just barely below my bottom and my short-torsoed, 5'3" self quite likes it there. The bottom of the skirt doesn't have an ugly, obnoxious hem, so it's very flattering and comfortable directly against the skin.

There is good stretch within both the bust and the skirt, but I would not recommend tugging on it too hard. The fabric is very delicate and also very easy to snag on something, so take care if you're moving about the house in it not to catch it on the furniture. This baby doll should be hand-washed and hung to dry: normally, I'm the Champion of "oh, just pop it in the wash on delicate," but in this case, I honestly wouldn't risk it. If hand-washing your lingerie is never on your to-do list, try this same style in the dusty nose on red and black.

As I mentioned the g-string, I suppose I should address it: there is a g-string included with this babydoll. It's the standard throwaway little piece of nothing, and it does absolutely nothing to flatter the figure. It's nice that they include matching underwear, but the pure elastic sides really dig in (not painfully, just enough to cause a muffin top), which ruins the flowing lines provided by the babydoll itself.
Experience
I've had this for a few months now, but not worn it more than a half a dozen times, because I simply have nowhere to wear it. That being said, it has held up well for those encounters - I always make sure that I'm the one to take it off, if it comes off, because I definitely don't trust it to be ripped off in the heat of the moment.

The one good thing about the underbust being so big on me is that it allows me to get into (and out of) the babydoll quite easily. I think that even with the stretch, it might be a bit more difficult for me to pull this over my breasts if it actually fit, so that may be something to take into account.

I haven't had any issues with the lace getting pilled during storage, despite the fact that I keep it in a wooden drawer (for lack of anywhere else to keep it: believe me) or during washing. I am pretty lazy, though, and normally just spot clean it under the arms and take care not to get anything on it rather than washing the whole thing every time: I usually only have it on for a very short while anyways.

For me, this would not be very comfortable sleepwear, however I can see where if it fit properly, it absolutely would be. If you'd like something dainty to sleep in at night and think that the measurements might suit you, you could definitely give this a shot: it's far from uncomfortable, and the fabrics are very soft.
Follow-up commentary
I'm surprised by the quality of this babydoll. I mean, the fit still isn't perfect for me (even less so now that I've lost a little weight), but it's held up well even though machine washing once I got too lazy to handwash. ;)

I love the conversational tone of this review and the fact that it doesn't get bogged down in trying to describe every little thing. I got all the info I think I could want while still being engaged. If I need measurements, I would just ask you here or in a PM. So, I think I really prefer this less lengthy style of reviewing for lingerie - great job!

It seems that I've made a to/o typo in the third paragraph - how embarrassing! I'm unfortunately notable to edit it but I assure you that I'm not usually so illiterate.

And I would definitely be happy to provide measurements if anyone's looking for them, I just remember how painfully boring it must have been to read some of my previous reviews where I measured every little thing. Thank you so much for the positive feedback!

I didn't mean your previous reviews with measurements were boring!! Since we were told to do less lengthy reviews, I was complimenting you on how you found a way to make it work! I think those measurements are valuable for garment reviews, but if they want more brief reviews, then I guess people can request the info personally. I don't think measurements are too detailed, but I can see how some reviews were too detailed. For instance, do we need to know how the material is made and what dyes are used? Some other reviewers wrote dissertations it seemed, lol! I am not saying they weren't useful to some people, but I can also see people not bothering to read all that hard work. None of your reviews has ever been boring, let alone painfully so!!
