Blue and Bustless

The Electric Blue line by Coquette caught my eye immediately. I usually buy pinks and blacks but this color was stunning. It's just as beautiful in person as it is in the photos. The lace detailing gives it a delicate yet sexy look. It's comfortable to wear while still cinching the waist in. The only issue is the breast area. It provides no support and gives a "uniboob" appearance. No matter how great the detailing is, squished and saggy breasts are never good.

The Coquette Lace Corset is part of Coquette's new Electric Blue line. The line also includes a Lace Bustier, a Mesh Chemise, and a Lace Babydoll. The lace corset comes with removable straps and garters. No bottom is included.

PACKAGING

The corset is packaged in a plastic wrapping. It is hung on one of the padded Coquette hangers.

SIZING

The corset is available in sizes S-XL. I have this in the medium. For the medium I should be a cup size B measuring 36"-38". My waist should measure 28"-30". My hips should measure 38"-40". I should wear a dress size between 8-10.

My actual dress size is a 6. My cup size is 36D/34DD. My waist is 28" and my hips are 39".

The medium is 16.25" long. It is 15.75" under the cups. The waist is 14". The hips are 15". The back has two rows for adjusting sizes. These are spaced .5" apart. The included straps and garters are adjustable.

This fits me perfectly when worn on the second row of hooks. I can wear it on the first row as well without it being too loose. There is enough room left to fit the sizes listed in the size chart. The cups hold my DDs without causing overspill. These cups will be best suited for a C cup or above. There is no padding in them to help fill them out if there's extra room left.

The one issue that I guess falls in sizing is that the cups do not offer any support. They are not underwire. When the straps are put on it helps give some support, but without the straps my boobs look very saggy in this corset.

MATERIAL

The corset is 80% nylon and 20% spandex exclusive of trim. This basically means just the inside as the entire outer part is done in lace detailing. The inside feels similar to bathing suit material. It is shiny in appearance. It feels very comfortable against the skin with no itching or irritation.

The outer part of the corset is lace. The main part is a blue floral lace. The bottom is accented with a black floral lace. More on this in the Design section, but I did want to show you a close up of the lace:

DESIGN

The cups are not separated. It's one panel that makes the breast area. This is done in a blue mesh placed over the black bathing suit like material. The mesh is runched together for effect. There is a black bow in the center of the breast section. This is attached via a safety pin and easily removable.

The center has five lace accents that go along with the boning. Four of these come inward and the middle one is straight. These are a black piece of lace with bright blue ribbon intertwined in it. The main material of the center part is bright blue floral lace. This is put over the black bathing suit material. You can see the black through the lace. The back is made of this same lace with no accents.

The bottom is a black floral lace. It has one small line of lace that goes along with the seam and then the bigger lace that makes the bottom accent. This bottom lace is runched up for effect.

BONING

This corset has plastic boning. There are two straight lines of boning on each side. The center boning falls along the same path as the lace detailing on the front. Four of them come inward and the center one is straight. There is a black panel that goes across the center.

The boning is not as good at pulling things in as it would be if it were metal. However, it does do a decent job. Since it's plastic it's a bit pliable. It doesn't seem to bend out of shape easily. Even when I play around with it, it goes back to the original shape. I don't have a ton of corsets to compare the quality of this one to. It's much better than the last corset I got from Coquette which had metal boning.

You can also see the snap closures in the photo below. There are two rows for different sizing.

QUALITY

There are some loose threads around some of the seams of the corset. The seaming is done well and everything lines up. The lace is very delicate and care should be taken to keep it in the condition it comes in.

CARE

This corset should be hand washed only. It should be line dried. It should not be ironed or placed in the drier. It should not be bleached.
Experience
I think the design of this corset is simply beautiful. The electric blue color really pops even just looking at it on the hanger. It's so different from other things I have because of the great coloring.

The corset is kinda a pain to put on. The snaps are in the back which means you have to put it on backwards and then try to shimmy it on the right way. A few times I've heard ripping while doing this. It's not impossible, just not easy.

I find this comfortable to wear. It pulls my waist in without making it impossible to breathe. The material doesn't bug me at all.

So what's not to like? The cup area of this corset, that's what. If I wear this with the straps it's really not so bad. Without the straps it squishes my boobs down and seems to push them down even farther than they would be on their own. Lovely. I tried this on for my husband without the straps (I hadn't figured out the strap trick yet). He HATED it. He said it makes it look like I have a "uniboob" (his words). He says it looks like my boobs aren't separated at all. I tried to show him how it looks with the straps, but he wouldn't have any of it. He says I can't even wear this out with him. I personally don't think it's all that bad.

When asked to pick a rating for this, my husband said 2 if he was "being generous." I'd say it was a 4, taking off a point for the lack of support and the fact that it only works with the straps attached. I'll average it out to a three because my husband says if I give this a 4 he'll be really mad at me!

Here you can see it with the straps on:

I think it still looks good with and without straps...obviously it's idea for a corset to be stand-alone, but I wonder if wearing a bra underneath would help it look like it fits better? I have smaller boobs, and a couple of times have used bras under corsets and liked the look...

Ooh, what a shame! I've had my eye on this for a while and it's disappointing that it isn't so supportive
