Wetlook corset with lace - corset discontinued by Coquette - review by Breas

The Wet Look Corset with Lace by Coquette is available in sizes S-1X/2X. I got the corset in size XL. I was interested in this corset because I thought it would look nice beneath a black shrug or cardigan while out in public. Often times I’ll wear my bustiers and corsets out in public as long as they are not sheer or too revealing.

The corset arrived in a clear plastic bag and was on a plastic hanger. The hanger is excellent to use for storing the corset in your closet. There was a cardboard tag attached to the corset stating the company name, company website, product size, product colour, and had a few photos of a model wearing the piece. Also attached to with the tag were two small zip lock style bags. One of the bags held the detachable garter straps while the other held the detachable shoulder straps.



The tag states that the corset is 80% nylon and 20% spandex (exclusive of trim). The material does have some stretch to it and does not become sheerer the more it is stretched. Also, there is a thick elastic band that runs horizontally around the inside of the corset (the centre) that adds a little bit of stretch as well. You can see the elastic in the photo below.



I’ve taken a few measurements of the corset laying flat. If you need additional measurements, please let me know and I will get them for you.

Adjustable shoulder strap length: 9-16 inches
Adjustable garter strap length: 5 ½ - 9 inches
Chest (armpit to armpit): 17 inches
Cup length: 5 ¾ inches
Cup width: 8 inches
Width at bottom of corset: 18 inches
Length of corset (taken down side of piece- not including the 2 inches of ruffle trim): 13 inches
Length down centre back of piece: 13 inches

The corset does up with hook and eye closures down the centre back of the piece. There are 2 rows of eyes, with 18 eyes in each row. The rows are ¾ of an inch apart. The measurements above are of the corset done up on the first row of eyes (the loosest fit).

There are 11 plastic boning pieces to the corset: 5 down the front, 4 down the back, and 1 on each side. All of the boning pieces have a black velvet cover on them except for the boning pieces on either side of the corset. The plastic boning is very flexible and does not do a very good job at shaping.

There is mush ruffle trim along the bottom of the corset and goes all the way around to the back of the piece. There are four rows of ruffle and three of the rows are tiered. At the front bottom of the corset, there are two large black ribbon bows. There is another bow of the same size between the cups. The bows are approximately 4 ¾ inches wide and 3 ¾ inches long.



All of these bows sit on broach style pins so they are detachable. You can take one (or all of them) off completely, or rearrange where they sit on the piece. There is ruffle trim along the top of the corset as well. This trim goes all the way around to the back of the piece just like the bottom ruffles do. There are 5 rows of ruffles at the top of the piece. This ruffle trim is tiered and covers half of the cup length.

There are 4 included garter straps and 2 shoulder straps. The garter straps have plastic pieces at the bottom of them with rubber backings to hold your stockings up. The outfit does not include stockings so you’ll need to purchase these separately or have a pair at home to wear with the piece. Both garter and shoulder straps are adjustable and detachable. Since I wear pieces like this out, I rarely get any use out of the included garter straps. The loops that you hook the garter and shoulder straps to are on the inner area of the piece so if you choose not to wear them, it doesn’t look odd.



The cups to the piece are padded but there is no underwire to them. The XL fit my C cups well. I think that the cups could possibly fit a D as well (nothing larger though). The length of the corset was nice on me. The length covered my hips and belly. This is important to me because when I wear a piece like this out, I don’t want my chubby hips and belly to be poking out the bottom.

Below are a few photos of me wearing the corset. I’m wearing the corset with the tutu bottom that came with this outfit, which is discontinued now but there are other tutus available here at EdenFantasys (assuming you like the look).



The corset was comfortable while wearing it but there was one issue I did have (comfort wise). The corset has the wet look material with a floral lace patterned material overtop. This lace material is a bit coarse. I wore the corset with a half sweater so my arms didn’t rub against the material. When I had taken the sweater off, the top inner area of my arms would rub against the lace and it was a bit irritating after a while. It wasn’t as bad as some lace that I’ve felt but I figured this was noteworthy for those who can’t tolerate a bit of scratchiness against the skin. The care tag states that the piece should be hand washed only and hung to dry.

Overall, I like the corset. It hasn’t become one of my favourites but it’s cute and my partner really loves it on me. I’ve deducted 1 star from the rating for the lace on the corset. The mesh trim is not uncomfortable- it’s very soft. As long as I wear a long sleeve cardigan/shrug, then the lace doesn’t rub against my inner arm. I also think the price is a bit high so I recommend using a coupon code or waiting for the piece to go on sale.
