C38? The Lies!!

The Powernet Flocked Bra by Coquette disappointed me. I wear a C38 bra comfortably but the C38 of this bra flattened my chest out. The cups are far too small for a C cup. It's not a terrible bra if you can actually fit into it but you'll have to guess which size works best for you because their size chart is no help. I wouldn't recommend this bra to anybody.

The Powernet Flocked Bra by Coquette is available in sizes 34-36B, and 38C. I wear a 38C so this is the size I had purchased. The bra arrived on a padded hanger and was surrounded by plastic. There was a cardboard tag attached to the bra that had a few photos of a model wearing the bra and stated the company name, website, product name, size, and colour. I store my bras in a drawer but you could use the included hanger to store the bra in your closet.

The bra is 100% polyester, exclusive of decoration. The material at the front of the bra (the cups and beneath them) is a fuzzy material. The fuzzy material is not stretchy and not sheer. The top of the cups and back of the bra is a netted material, which is both sheer and stretchy. I’ve taken a few measurements of the bra laying flat, unstretched. If you need additional measurements, send me a message and I’d be happy to get them for you.

Adjustable shoulder strap length: 8 ½ - 16 inches
Armpit to armpit: 15 ½ inches
Bottom of bra width: 13 ¼ inches
Cup length: 5 inches
Cup width: 6 ½ inches

The bra has hook and eye closures down the centre back. There are 2 columns of eye closures. Each column has 4 eyes in it and the two columns are 5/8 of an inch away from one another. The measurements I had taken above are with the hook and eyes done up on the loosest fit.

The shoulder straps are both adjustable in length and detachable. The straps are stretchy, black in colour, and have little rhinestone gems on them. Each strap has 15 gems on it. The gems begin approximately 2 ½ inches up from the bottom of the strap. The cups have a thin layer of padding in them and they do have underwire.

The broach that sits between the cups is detachable. The broach is circular and has a diameter of just less than 2 ½ inches. The broach isn’t really well made. The chain that goes around the felt material circle is not secured well. The circular felt piece is also not very well secured to the broach pin so you may want to add a few more stitches if you don’t want it falling off.

I mentioned earlier that I wear a C38 bra. I had assumed that since this bra was sold to me as a C38, it would fit nicely. I was wrong. The tag actually lists the bra as a size large rather than the specific bra size. The large, according to the Coquette size chart, should fit a C cup with a bust of 38-40 inches.

I tried the bra on with the hook and eye closures done up on the loosest fit. The cups were far too tight on me. My chest was completely flattened. The cups to this bra do not work for a C cup unless you’re a fan of really flat, awkward boobs.

Other than the tightness of the cups, the material that the bra is made of is comfortable against the skin. If the cups actually fit me, I’d be comfortable wearing the bra all day without any issues of skin irritation. The care tag states that the bra should be hand washed only and hung to dry.

Overall, I’m pretty disappointed with this bra. I expected a C38 but it’s far too small for my size. It’s always a gamble for me when I buy Coquette items; either the cups are way too large or way too small for me. I’ve given the bra a 2 out of 5 because the sizing is ridiculously off and the broach is poorly made. The bra itself is “okay” but since the sizing is off, you’ll have to guess and hope that the size you purchased fits you.

Wow. Thanks for the review! Seems like a couple of reviewers for this item have found the same problems with sizing. That's a shame when getting the purchase right is so important.

Thanks for the comment Ayumi. Yeah, it's surprising.. Coquette is usually better with their sizing!
