Monique corset and thong - corset discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Breas

The corset is available in sizes 32-44. I ordered the size 38. The corset arrived on a black, plastic DreamGirl hanger, surrounded by plastic. There was no text or photos on the plastic bag. The hanger is excellent is to use to store the corset when it’s not being worn.

Attached to the corset was a cardboard tag stating the company name, company website, size, and had a photo of a model wearing the corset on it. The corset comes with a thong and detachable, adjustable garter straps. The garter straps were attached to the corset when it arrived.

Both the thong and corset are 100% polyester. There is no stretch to the material but the waistband to the thong is elastic so it has stretch. The corset has lacing down the centre back and at the bottom of each side so even though there is no stretch to the material, width can be added by loosening the lacing.



I’ve taken measurements of the outfit laying flat, unstretched. The corset lacing at the back and down the sides was done up so no skin would be showing through (tightest fit). Width can be added by loosening these laced areas if needed. If you need additional measurements, please send me a message and I can get them for you.

Thong
Waistband unstretched: 15 inches
Waistband stretched as much as I could: 29 inches
Widest part of material that covers your front area: 5 ½ inches

Corset
Adjustable garter strap length: 5- 7 ½ inches
Chest (armpit to armpit): 17 ½ inches
Width of bottom of corset: 16 inches
Length of corset (armpit to bottom of corset): 13 ½ inches
Length of corset (taken down centre back): 12 ½ inches

The corset has 19 hook and eye closures down the centre front. There is a black ribbon that laces down the centre back of the corset. There is also lacing down the sides of the corset. The lacing is at the bottom of each side; 5 inches in length.



There is lace trim that runs along the top and bottom of the corset. The trim at the top is approximately 1 ¼ inches and the ruffle at the bottom is ¾ inches. There are ten plastic boning pieces in the corset; 4 down the front, 4 in the back, and 1 down each side. The boning on the side stops where the lacing begins.



The garter straps are adjustable and detachable. The loops to attach the straps are on the inside of the corset so it doesn’t look odd if you choose not to wear them. I personally don’t use the garter straps because I wear my corsets and bustiers out in public (under a little sweater or similar item). This corset does not have loops in it to attach shoulder straps to.

There is no padding or underwire in the chest area of the corset. The material is thick enough though that you do not need to wear a bra or pasties in fear of your nipple outline showing. The included thong is just a basic, black thong with a lining in it. Below is a photo of the thong as well as one of the garters to the corset.



Surprisingly, the entire corset is extremely comfortable. The lace along the top of the corset does not irritate my arms at all, and most lace does. It’s a much softer lace so it doesn’t scratch against the skin like some lace can. I don’t have any complaints about the comfort of the corset. The care tag in the corset states that it should be dry cleaned only. The thong care tag says that it can be hand washed in cold water and line dried.

As for my experience with the corset… well, I’m very happy with it! As I had said earlier, lace trim along the top of pieces like this usually irritate the skin at my inner arm. The lace to this corset did not.

No one was home when I tried the corset on so I had to makeshift and do it myself. I loosened the lace in the back and then seen if I was able to do the hook and eye closures up in the front. If I needed more loosening, I’d loosen a bit more, and repeat. Eventually I was able to fit into the corset. I feel that it would have fit a bit better if my partner was around but unfortunately he isn’t here today. You can see photos of me wearing the piece below. The first photo is a front view, second is a side, third is the back, and fourth is an up-close photo of the side lacing. I’m 5’6 and you can see that the length of the corset is great in the front, though in the back it is a bit short, revealing my pudged areas. You can see that I needed to loosen the lacing quite a bit in order to fit into the piece. There is no panel of fabric beneath the lacing so the more you need to loosen it, the more skin will be revealed.

Overall, I’m pleased with the corset and don’t really have any complaints about it. The idea of “dry cleaning” is a bit off putting but I’ll just hand wash the corset and see how it goes. I think the corset is lovely, comfortable, and fits well. I’d recommend this piece to others for sure!
