Bustier discontinued

Cute, at first!

If you want to wear this bustier in the bedroom and not leave it on very long, it might be perfect. It isn't really my style as lingerie (I prefer something more sexy and less sweet) so I planned on wearing it out. I thought it would be ideal for that; it looks great with dark jeans or a pencil skirt, and the built in underwire means you don't have to worry about finding a bra that won't show. It looked great at first, but unfortunately, by the time I got home, it was bunchy and unflattering.

Design:

This bustier screams cute and retro, with it 's pink and black polka dots, sweetheart neckline, and wide-set halter straps. This cut is very flattering to many women, particularly those who are pear-shaped, because it emphasizes the breasts and shoulders and creates more of an hourglass look.

The halter straps tie behind the neck with a bow made of wide, pink satin ribbon. This matches the removable bow placed between the breasts. The cups are lined and have built in underwire for shaping and lift. The upper edge of the lining is not sewn down to the straps, similar to some bathing suits, which means that you might be able to add padding in if desired.

The corset has 3 pieces of plastic boning down the center front that are covered in pink satin. The satin also extends in an arc shape over each hip, but this area doesn't actually contain any boning. There is also pink satin piping along the top and bottom edges.

The bustier closes with hook and eyes. There are 2 sets of hooks, which offers about ½ inch of adjustability.

The bustier comes with adjustable garters that can range from 6 to 10 inches long. They have plastic closures which are covered with satin ribbons. The garters have a ruffly look to them, with looped trim on the edges.

Materials:

There are 2 tags sewn into the bustier; one says 90% polyester, 10% spandex and the other says 82% nylon, 18% spandex.

The polka dot material is made from soft, stretchy mesh. This is lined with a soft, solid black material that feels like microfiber. The lining of the cups is a slightly different black material, that isn't quite as soft as the rest of the lining, but definitely not scratchy.

The satin used on the edges and boning is slightly different than the ribbon used for the strap and bow, so they aren't identical shades of pink, but this isn't obvious.

Fit:

Because of the stretchy material, minimal boning, as well as the fact that it is made from flexible plastic, this bustier doesn't have a lot of structure, and fits more like a top. The fabric on the sides can bunch up as you move around. The boning can also become temporarily bent out of shape if you slouch while wearing it.

This photo was taken before I went out, about an hour after putting it on:

By the time I got home from the bar, it was much less flattering! You can see how the boning is bending and material is bunching:

According to Coquette's size chart, a small should fit a size 4-6 with B cups, a 34-36 inch bust, 26-28 inch waist, and 36-38 inch hips.

I'm on the large end of the recommended measurements. I'm a 34 C with a 36 inch bust and 28 inch waist. My high hip measurement (where the bustier ends) is 35 inches. I have 39 inch hips, but that measurement isn't important in this case. The bustier fits me nicely, but isn't tight, even though I wear it on the tighter hooks. I'm able to put it on over a thin sweater without the bustier feeling too tight or being difficult to do up.

Although it can accommodate women larger than the size chart recommends, I still think it will work for those on the smaller end of the spectrum; the bustier isn't cut larger than it should be, it just has a lot of stretch.

I would recommend a size Small to women with B or C cup breasts, and a 26-30 inch waist.

Care:

The bustier should be hand-washed and air-dried. Do not bleach or iron. I put a lot of my lingerie into the washing machine despite the instructions, but when it comes to bustiers and corsets, I wouldn't risk it. The boning could become bent and ruined.

Packaging:

The bustier came simply packaged in clear cellophane. The garters were in a small ziploc baggy attached to the bustier, and there was also a cardboard tag with a picture of the model wearing the bustier along with some care instructions.
