White strapped back dress - maxi dress discontinued by Espiral - review by Kissy

What had potential to be a very sexy dress, just simply wasn't. I had high expectations for the White Strapped Back Dress that was (over) priced at $32.99. And if you don't read any more of this review, just read this: Unless you are looking for a white see-through short dress - this will be a waste of money.

Packaging:
The White Strapped Back Dress by Espiral came in a small cardboard box - sort of like a specialty cookie container. It opens from the top and inside you find the dress wrapped in a sheet of plastic. The box is not great for re-use.

The box shows the model in the dress, the colors, style and size. It also has the washing instructions, fabric and includes photos of all of the sides (front, back, side) of the dress in each color. It is pretty informative packaging, but it is absolutely obvious what is in the package. Aka, not discreet! The item itself has a tag attached to it, again with the color, style and size.

The dress is made in Colombia.

Care/ Maintenance:
The care instructions for this item are simple. Wash separately, drip dry and do not bleach. But to be honest, I can't imagine throwing this in the washer, I feel like it would come out in flimsy broken up pieces. Especially with all those strings on the back! I would always hand wash, which is annoying for a white dress I know! Since it is white, inevitably you will have to wash often, but hey, this is $32.99 you don't want to throw down the drain!

I currently am storing the dress in a dresser drawer. It does show some wrinkles after doing this, but hanging it would look too flimsy in the closet.

Design/Shape/Size:
This item comes in the colors: Black, White and Red. EdenFantasys carries the Red and White.
It is available in the sizes: S, M, and XL. (not sure why L is not available)

I am typically a size small. I wear size 4-6 in dresses and jeans. I am 5'4". I have a 34D bust. That being said I ordered the size small. I feel like this size was a good fit, but it was short!

Although it was a good fit in the bodice, this tank style silhouette cowl neckline dress just wasn't up to par. The open back with the criss cross strings would get twisted and tangled. The ruched back butt portion rode up the butt and was very short and revealing. The cowl neckline, which I normally don't like, actually worked out ok on this dress though. Except for the fact the entire thing is see-through. I guess I could have expected that though for a white dress. The dress hugs the curves well, but just reveals too much.

The outfit fabric is actually very comfortable and soft when wearing or touching. It is super light weight. The fabric is incredibly thin - almost like wearing nothing at all. You probably wouldn't feel comfortable wearing this out of the house. It is like wearing your undies out. You whitey tightys - non-the-less! ;)

Despite the see-through, thin fabric, this dress has strong seams and is sewn well. Kind of a shocker. I checked along the edges through-out the dress, and they were finished off, and no loose ends. I tugged on the straps and they felt secure.

Conclusion: ★ (thin, see-through, short)

Personal Experience :
I personally feel uncomfortable wearing this anywhere but the bedroom. It is best for lingerie type wear. It will NEVER be worn out of my house because of the see-through, thin fabric and short length.

Other than lingerie, I also thought it might be cute as a bathing suit cover up. But then again, when it is wet, it is even MORE see-through... so maybe it will just stay in the back of my drawer. We'll see when I do a 3 month update! ;)

Well, bummer. Sadly, but truthfully... I was right. I have yet to wear this out of the house. I have worn it sexily inside the house, but there is so much more in my lingerie drawer I like more. I might just give this to the Goodwill now that I am thinking about it. Overall, it is just disappointing because it is thin, see-through and oddly fitting on my body.
