Overview

This is a solid, halter, cowl neck mini dress with side buckles on the thighs. The dress itself is a glittery silver, while the halter part is black with silver studs decorating it. The details on the thighs feature three studs on either side of a piece of patent leather with a buckle running through it. The buckles are not adjustable, sadly. It is available in only one color, and in the sizes SM and ML. This review is for the ML size.

Sizing/fit

Leg Avenue's size chart shows that sizes 10-14 can wear a medium-large. I am between a 9 and a 10. With 34D breasts, the medium-large was definitely a good choice for me. It ended up being a perfect fit - not too tight, but fitting and complimenting my curvy form well. The breast portion is a cowl neck style and very loose, which didn't bind my breasts together and worked well with my strapless bra. The skirt portion didn't sag on my legs but didn't dig into them either, and the same with the back portion. It is not see-through, but it shows every curve and the undergarments I was wearing since it is relatively tight.



Material/care/packaging/storage

The material is an 80% Nylon, 20% Spandex mixture, which makes it very stretchy and forgiving. It feels thin and light when held and worn, and it is not scratchy at all on the inside or the outside. The side buckle straps are made of patent leather. On the inside, they don't shine as much; on the outside, they give more of a wet look feel rather than a leather feel.

The fabric itself is shimmery and has natural wrinkles to give it the "crushed foil" look, as you can see below:



The sparkles on this tend to come off, so watch out on what and where this dress rubs. The inside of the dress is black, and the black part can be seen if the cowl neck is pulled down.

The tag instructs to hand wash this in warm water and only with non-chlorine bleach when needed. Drip dry and absolutely do not iron this.

The dress came folded and wrapped in plastic. It would not be ideal to store this again in the plastic. The dress includes clear straps on both sides which allow it to hang from a hanger with ease.



Design

The design of this dress almost looks like a tube dress if the halter portion is tucked away. The halter portion starts at the underarms and connects at the back of the neck. The connector is very similar to a bra or garter strap: it has a flat, plastic hook sewn into one piece which connects into the flat loop of the other piece.

The back of this dips down to the bottom of my shoulder blades. It is about 30 inches long from the top to the hem. The bottom of the dress comes to the middle of my thighs.

The Crushed Foil Mini Dress by Leg Avenue actually first caught my partner's eye while browsing around EdenFantasys. After seeing the sexy buckle detail, we both agreed that it was a must-have. I was so excited when this came in the mail after waiting for what seemed like forever - I recently moved to Italy, and customs seemed to want to hold on to this dress for quite some time. When I first put it on, I felt like a star. It definitely has a glam feeling to it, and paired with silver accessories, silver jewelry, and silver makeup, I felt like I was ready to rock the town. I wore gray leggings and black fishnet stockings to keep my legs warm, yet sexy, for my nighttime outing, but I'm sure this will definitely look sexier when the weather gets warmer. The entire appeal of this dress was the thigh buckle, of course.

I really love this dress, despite its cons. The cowl neck was a little tricky to place properly, and I'm not sure if that has to do with my chest or the dress, but it ended up showing much more than I was comfortable with several times throughout the night. I'll probably invest in some fabric tape to keep this in place for the next time that I wear it. I love how super shiny it is - it really makes me stand out in a crowd, and I feel fantastic in it.



It is cheap in the sense that it is inexpensive, and a little cheap in the application of the studs, unfortunately. When buying glittery fabrics, it's almost given that some of the glitter will come off, and I was pleased to find out that it was not that much with this dress. The studs, however, could have been applied better. Its nothing that a little glue can't handle, but they shouldn't be coming off on the first day.

This dress is super cute, but if you buy it, be very aware of the studs that come off! The glue that is used does not keep them attached very well. I had three more studs come off since writing the review. The sparkles aren't THAT bad coming off as some sparkly items I have, but it does have a tendency to rub off a bit. The crinkle effect is still very nice.
