Everybody Polka!

The Polka Dot Mesh Corset provides the shape sculpting effect that a corset is known for. Garter straps are included and although the rubber portion of the clasp is annoyingly easy to unhook, once in place they look awesome. The back of the corset has two sets of ‘eyes’ for the closure so you can choose between two levels of tightness. While this does not provide the flexibility of a lace-up corset, there is still the opportunity for adjustment. Overall, a very attractive piece of lingerie.

Pros
Boning provided for great slimming and shape sculpting, garters add to the attraction.
Cons
Sizes seem to run a little small, rubber clasps on garter straps are annoying.

extremely useful review
The Polka Dot Mesh Corset by Coquette intrigued me at first glance. Since I couldn’t see the polka dots on it at all, I wondered how it could be considered a polka-dot corset. Upon closer examination I saw that the polka dots are black on black which provides a little extra fun while not being too distracting. My experience with corsets in general is pretty weak. Don’t ask me to explain the difference between a corset and a bustier either because all you’ll get is a blank stare. You won’t get a blank stare when my partner is wearing this corset though, because she looks HOT in it. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve got a thing for corsets and garters. Maybe it’s the way the corset accents the curves in the female form along with the mystique behind seeing the top of a thigh high stocking with a garter attached under a short skirt, but it’s a look that really gets my juices flowing. My personal tastes are a little beside the point here, but this piece definitely feeds my corset/garter fetish.

For the most part, the corset is well made. The one complaint I have with the construction is those stupid little rubber clasps that are used to hook the garters to the stockings. They come off so easily that it is not hard for them to get lost. I’ve run into this with other garter pieces though, so I know it isn’t just this corset or Coquette, but I would think some one would have come up with something better by now. Also, I feel it is important to note that this corset does not include stockings or panties, so make sure you order something suitable if you don’t already have some. The body of the corset has boning to help retain the slimming shape and the boning works very well. There really isn’t an under wire, so the breast support isn’t quite as good as some others might have, but it does a decent job. The sizing may run a little small, but with a corset maybe that is the point. There are two sets of hook and eye closures on the back, so a little bit of adjustment is possible. Not as much as if it was laced, mind you, but at least you have the option of tightening it up a little more if that is your desire.

Now, we aren’t a couple that is really into the “scene”, so I can’t think of any condition where my partner is going to wear this outside of the bedroom, but our lifestyle is on the conservative side, so I could see where other might have some real fun with this piece out and about. The ruffles really preclude it from being worn as an undergarment, but if you are looking for a sexy piece to wear to a party this may just fit the bill.
Experience
Since we had worked out some of the kinks in ordering lingerie online last time, this was much easier and more enjoyable. Once the corset got to us we were so excited I helped her put it on right away. My partner looks great in black lingerie, so the color of this corset is great for her. The hook and eye closures were easy to fasten on the outside set but the inside set definitely requires a little more coordination. The boning really accented her curves (which are already terrific) and bring her female shape into sharper focus. Since the corset lacks an under wire, her breasts were mostly supported because they were squeezed toward the top of the corset. I imagine this is the case with most corsets and bustiers, so more of an observation than a complaint. Fastening the garters was a little annoying but seemed to be okay. During this experience I found that I really enjoy dressing my wife up in items that make her look hot. Like my very own life size Barbie doll (but with lingerie).

The mesh material is safe for cleaning in a washing machine using cold water and then air dried. I would suggest removing the garters and washing those by hand, however.

The boning without an under wire works great for woman on the smaller bust size....I imagine it would be good for a men too. Thanks, great review Smile

Thanks, Kinky Kitty, I'll have to take your word for it since I don't have a smaller bust sized woman to try it on... or are you suggesting that I put it on? Surprised

Thanks for explaining about the sets of eyehooks in back as well as the polka dots. I had the exact thought. What dots?! LOL The eyehooks are also pretty unique. I'd have to see them in person to know how I feel about them, I think.

So, this whole thing is mesh or what? That also confuses me because it looks pretty opaque in the images.

I've never worn a corset with underwire but I think the way they push up the breasts is part of the point to me. I love it!

    Good points, Adriana.
The eyehooks are the standard hook and eye closures that are very common on bras, there's just lots of them in two columns up the back of the corset to allow for two different amounts of tightness for the wearer.
The corset is not mesh in that it is see through, the outer covering is mesh over a more standard polyester I believe. The polka dots are really in the mesh, though.
Maybe a corset with underwire isn't something that even exists, so I am just showing off my relative lingerie inexperience with that statement.
