Floral corset and thong - corset discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Breas

The Floral Corset and Thong by DreamGirl is available in sizes S-XL. I had a hard time choosing between this corset and the chemise. They both are absolutely beautiful, but I decided on the corset because the chemise is sheer on the sides/back. I was hoping I could tighten the lace on the front of the corset so no skin was showing through, and then I could wear it out in public. I ordered the size XL.

The corset and thong arrived on a plastic hanger, surrounded by plastic. I don’t keep the plastic coverings that come with lingerie pieces, but I suppose you could if you wanted to. I like to keep my pieces on the hangers they came with.

Attached to the corset was a cardboard tag with a photo of a model wearing the piece, the company name, size, and company website. The adjustable, detachable garters were already on the corset when it arrived.



I’ve taken measurements of the corset done up on the first row of eye closures (loosest fit). The corset was lying flat, unstretched. The corset was tied in the front as it arrived- with a 1 inch gap. If you need additional measurements, send me a message and I can get them for you.

Thong
Waistband unstretched: 15 inches
Waistband stretched as much as I could: 30 inches
Widest part of material that covers front area: 4 ¾ inches
Liner length: 4 ¼ inches

Corset
Chest (armpit to armpit): 17 inches
Bottom of corset: 17 ½ inches
Length of corset (armpit to bottom of ruffle): 17 ¼ inches
Shoulder straps: 13 ½-17 inches
Lace trim at bottom of corset: 4 inches
Ruffle trim on the top of the corset and the shoulder straps: just under 1 inch

Garter Straps
Length: 5 ¾- 9 ½ inches
Width: just under an inch

The piece is made of 54% polyester and 46% cotton. The material of the corset and thong are not stretchy, though the waistband to the thong is. Also, the backs of the shoulder straps have stretch to them as well.

There are 8 plastic boning pieces in the corset; 4 down the front, 2 in the back, and 1 on each side. The ruffle trim that runs along the bottom of the corset and along the top of the corset/shoulder straps is a soft mesh material.



The corset does up down the centre back of the corset with hook and eye closures. There are 2 rows of 16 eye closures, with a ¾ inch between the rows. The corset can also be loosened in the front of the corset by adjusting the ribbon, though the more you need to loosen the lace, the more skin will show through.



There are 4 garter straps that are included. They come already attached to the corset, but they are detachable so they can be taken off if you prefer the corset without them. The corset does not come with stockings, but the garters can be attached to any stockings that you may already have.



There is no designated area for your chest (cups), so there is no underwire. The chest area also does not have any padding; you can wear the corset without a bra, though the lack of support may bother some people. The thong does have a liner in it.



I found the material to be comfortable against my skin and I didn’t have any problem with it irritating my skin/feeling scratchy.

The care tag states that the outfit should be hand washed in cold water and line dried.

As for my own experience with the corset, well, it’s nice. As I had mentioned, I was hoping that I could tighten the front lace so that no skin was revealed through the front of the corset. I was hoping to be able to tighten it so I could wear it in public with a nice shrug and a pair of jeans. Unfortunately, this is a bedroom only piece because instead of tightening the lace, I had loosen it to be able to do the hook and eye closures up on the back of the corset. This was a bit disappointing for me, but it still makes for a beautiful bedroom outfit.

I feel that the corset runs a bit small, so if you plan on purchasing it, order a size up, or expect to loosen the lace in the front. Being a bedroom piece, I’m fine with having a lot of skin revealed in the front, though I didn’t expect to need to loosen it as much as I had to. Thankfully the lace is very long so it allows you to loosen it quite a bit (which for me, was necessary). The thong was comfortable and I had no issues with it.

Other than the fact that the corset runs small and I had to loosen the front lace, it’s a beautiful piece. I love the colour, the floral design on the material, how comfortable it is, and how pretty I feel when I wear it. I’ve decided that the corset deserves a 4 out of 5. The reason it loses one star is because the sizing seems to be a bit small. If this corset was offered in a larger size (larger than XL), I’d probably get it so that it would fit me better, with less skin revealed down the front…unfortunately, it’s not available in plus sizes.
