Frosty, The Snow Blob... (SM)

This dress is a cute and original idea for holiday themed lingerie. Sure, there are plenty of sexy Santa themed things, but how many snowmen lingerie pieces do you see? This outfit has potential to be really cute and even really sexy, but it just didn't work out that well for me. It's not a must have piece, but it'll be a real gem for a few people.

extremely useful review
This dress did come with a hanger in a plastic bag, but the hanger wasn't anything special. There is a tag safety pinned (in Coquette style) to the dress, and on the inside of the back (where most shirt tags would be) there's a tag that gives you the size, materials, and care. This piece is 100% polyester exclusive of the trim and should be hand washed and hung to dry. You'd probably be ok in a lingerie bag on cold and gentle in the machine, but do so at your own risk.

You can get this in a SM or a ML. According to the new sizing chart from Coquette, the SM should fit a size 6-8, B cup, 35-37" bust, 28-30" waist, and 38-40" hips, and weigh between 110-140 pounds. I normally fall on the upper end of small and lower end of medium so I went with a SM because I'm about 5'2, I weigh about 120, around my bust measures 32" and underneath measures about 28 1/2". I've got about a 29" waist and measure about 34" around the top of my hips and 38" around my butt and wear a good solid B cup. Unfortunately, this was ever so tight on me. It wasn't the tightest thing I've tried to squeeze into, but it wasn't very comfortable after a while either. I'd recommend the ML if you're between what's normally listed for a small and a medium. And while I don't have the ML to compare to, I would guess that upper end of medium and lower end of large is probably what you're looking at.

So what you're getting here is one simple dress. It's winter themed and holiday appropriate, although if you want to wear it out in public you might want to find something else to wear underneath it since the back and side panels are a see through mesh. The front is designed much like a traditional snowman, although the top ball (8 1/2" across) is bigger than the middle ball (6 1/2" across), which is wrong. Both are smaller than the bottom ball though (11 1/4" across), and all three are connected, opaque, silky, and edged with a crinkly white and silver trim. There's a single black button in the middle of each ball, to simulate Frosty's coal buttons, and the non adjustable halter style strap is styled like a plaid scarf. The 23" long strap stretches to about 29" (although at this point it gets tight and digs in), is silky feeling, and the ends that fall in about the middle of each breast are capped with 3 1/2" pieces of fringe - just like a real scarf may have. The snowman design takes up much of the length of the dress, coming in at 23 of the 24" of total length. It's not stretchy at all, but the rest of the mesh paneling is.

The overall craftsmanship isn't horrible, although it's not exactly stellar either. There are a few loose threads on the trim around the snowman design, and on the matching trim that runs around the bottom of the dress. In fact, there was a spot on my hem that was starting to separate from the rest of the dress. The buttons are sewn on surprisingly well (something that anybody who manufactures a peacoat would do well to take note of), and the scarf seems like it'll hold up to some abuse.

On me, it came down to about mid thigh, and it definitely clung tightly to all of my curves. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it was a bit uncomfortable around the top after a short while. I had to wriggle around to get it on, and then spend a few more minutes trying to figure out how to get back out of it. In the pictures below, you can see just how well it hugs everything, and how see through the mesh is. You'll also get to see it with the metallic leggings that I had originally bought to go with this.

Experience
I normally fit into most SMs, but even this was a little tight on me. I had initially bought it to go with some leggings from here to have a super cute holiday outfit, but what I pictured in my head and what everything looked like together were two very different things and I ended up going with something else for my holiday gatherings. Overall this isn't a horrible choice, but it's not really a must have either. I ended up swapping my outfit last minute for something else (that still didn't go over as well as intended), and I don't regret it. My sister did think this was really cute, so it has a new home with her.

Have you tried wearing it with a slip? Does it look weird and chunky with one, or better?
  • Contributor: Jul!a
I actually didn't try wearing it with a slip. I think that if it were loose enough on you it would look a little better as long as the slip was an appropriately paired color, but this would have been too tight on me to wear with a slip underneath.
