Ribbon leg garter with bow - garters discontinued by Coquette - review by yeoshua

This leg garter is very similar to any wedding leg garter you have seen, with the caveat that it is not so "frou frou" and, in my very humble opinion, is much sexier on a woman's leg. It probably wouldn't be the "garter of choice" if you are considering this to be worn by the bride because the vast majority of people would be expecting an all white or white with a touch of light blue garteron that special occasion. It is a 1.25" strip of satiny, slightly textured (gross-grain) ribbon with a sheer lack ribbon (.75" wide) running along the center. There is a very narrow black satin bow with a plastic crystal at the center. It is very pretty and feminine in a not over the top kind of way.

This garter is 100% nylon, although it has the feel of a quality silky/cotton. I am sure there is spandex in there someplace because there is quite a bit of give to it. It measures just over 1" wide and unstretched it is 6.25". It stretches easily to fit a 22" thigh (8" above the knee is where I measured). The two women who "test drove" this garter both foun it comfortable, nonbinding and there was only minimal marking, which is certainly expected with anything elastic and designed to stay in place. There was no significant redness and no constriction of bloodflow. Of course, each person who wears this, or any elastic around their body part, should check for tightness and release if you feel any tingling or numbness. It seems like common sense, but I want you to be aware of this.

It can be worn under any skirt or dress and looks very, very appealing when allowed to show if you are wearing a short skirt. It is also a nice surprise under a longer skirt when the skirt comes off. It can not be worn under pants because it is heavy enough to make a visible imprint. Someone may not think you are wearing a garter, but there would obviously be "something" there. It wouldn't look "awful", just not quite as polished off as most women want to dress.

Coquette advises to hand wash and air dry. Following these instructions it will last a very long time (aren't we lucky!?). But, the color is black against a striking, bright white so there may be a time when it needs to be tossee in the washing machine. I suggest a "delicates" bag or pillowcase for protection. I strongly suggest choosing a pillow case if you are washing anything with hooks or velcro in the same load of laundry. Better yet, leave abrasive items for a different wash load.

Had I ordered this prior to Halloween, it would make a nice and easy male costume. If you have 3 buddies, or even alone, you can be a proper gentleman from the 1890s or a member of a barbershop quartet. This fits comfortable on a man's upper arm and along with a straw boater hat, a white or a red/white striped long sleeve shirt, black trousers and some slicked hair and mustache, you are good to go!! Have fun with this very nice item.
