I didn't discover French curves; I only uncovered them. (XL)

This suits me. I love this dress. I recognize, however, that there are things about it that other people won't like, such as it being strapless AND without breast support (and crazy short). For people who don't mind these qualities (and have smaller busts), this could be a home run.

extremely useful review
This dress went into my cart approximately 4 seconds after I saw it. I'm very impulsive sometimes, and this impulsiveness occasionally results in buyer's remorse (though, admittedly, this remorse is usually related to food). However, I haven't any buyer's remorse with this dress. It's über-comfortable and I like that I have the option of changing the laces.

This dress came packaged in a plastic bag and on a plastic DreamGirl hanger.
The dress is the only piece included (in case anyone out there has come to assume that everything comes with a matching thong).
The tag: Hand wash in cold water/ Line dry. 90% Polyester 10% Spandex.

I'm not going to put this in a machine. I think the material could handle it (on the delicate cycle, anyway), but I suspect the lacing could get seriously janked up in a washing machine; especially mine, which has become self-aware and is actively trying to ruin my life.

The front and back of the dress, laid flat. The product page says that the dress is 24" long, but I measured (the XL to be) 27 1/2". Bear in mind that the way the fabric hugs to the skin will make it seem shorter than this, though. This "dress" is VERY short. I'm 5'8" and it barely covers my nethers.

I forgot to put it in the picture, but the bust area measures 6 1/2" tall at its highest point, for those who would like to compare it to tops that they already have (preferably a bandeau-style top in this case).

The material is really soft and smooth. It feels rather like bathing suit material....that's the most accurate way of describing it.

The dress does have hanging loops, but they aren't very long.....I'm still cutting them off.

(The clearest close-ups I could get of) the laces and D-ring detailing. The D-rings are metal and have a sort of antique silver finish to them. Just sort of a matte dark gray finish. The pic on top is of the lacing that came with the dress (on the lower part of the dress). The pic on bottom is where I re-laced the dress with some random lace I found in my craft room (I couldn't find any ribbon).

Eden's DreamGirl Size Chart
doesn't include XL, but the DreamGirl website says that an XL should fit:

Size 14-16
Cup D/E
Bust 38-40
Waist 31-33
Hips 40-42
Weight 160-180 lbs

Me:

Size 16
Cup C
Bust 42
Waist 32
Hips 42
Weight 180 lbs

Okay, I'm going to try to describe the fit of this thing starting at the top:

As a person with C-cups, I personally like the bust fit of this, but I don't see this working well for E cups. D cups could fit, but just be aware that there is absolutely NO bust support. Occasionally, the dress will have to be pulled up, since it's basically a glorified, extra-long tube top.

Every bulge or abdominal imperfection from the underbust and downward will be revealed in all its glory thanks to the sleek, tight fit of this dress. If this were a longer dress without a lace-up back, the bottom could be hiked up a little bit to create some flaw-hiding ruching....but this is not the case. The dress is crazy short, and if you DO try to hike it up, it causes the lacing to bunch up in back. Whatever. I'm fine with my body. We've made peace.

There is a built-in modesty panel to back the lacing in the lower part of the dress. The top of the panel seems to line up with the top of the butt-crack. The product page picture makes the modesty panel look lighter than the rest of the dress, but it's all the same material. Even the lacing is the same stretchy material, which makes it harder to adjust, but also makes for a better fit, since it holds tightly to the body to aid in keeping the dress up.

I would estimate the ideal sizing to be closer to this:

Cup B-D
Bust 38-44
Waist 31-36
Hips 40-48

Back view, of course. It's kind of a shame that the lacing doesn't run down the other side. It would showcase my tattoo perfectly. Of course, that sentiment probably won't affect anyone else's decision on this dress. Just making a comment about my experience.

Customary side view. This one has more value than most, though, in my opinion, as it shows the wrapping around of the lacing. I would personally prefer the modesty panel not be there, but I also don't intend to be wearing this out.
Experience

I've come to realize that I just can't take good pictures if they involve dark fabrics on ghost white skin. This is the clearest 3/4 bust shot I could get, for what it's worth. The lacing can be tied much more closed-like for those who want to be more modest (though I don't think a modest person would be getting this dress in the first place).

With some patience, I changed out the lacing to .....this lace. I wanted to use ribbon, but apparently the 50 kilos of ribbon I had at some point in time shifted into an alternate spatial dimension. I've found that using stretchy lacing (such as that that came with the dress) is much more effective, though, as it helps grip the body and keep the dress up. Should you desire to change the lacing, I recommend something stretchy. And long. The lacing that came with the dress is 12 1/2 feet long.
